If I’m reading this correctly, it’s a gobsmacking indicator of how far marketing is away from its fundamental core and no one is picking up on it. Value discovery is 20%. 80% on bureaucracy - meetings and configuring ways to drive awareness about the value of their products that they invested 20% of their time understanding. It’s reasonable to assume the 80% is there because chasing down a result from futile tack is that time consuming. Having grown up in my career in Silicon Valley and going toe to toe with the big boys (and winning) it was amazing how many tech startups looked at raising money as a business model. It’s why so many died. This report gives me that same feeling. So much focus on the means instead of the ends. And the ethos of looking at customers as the means to their own ends - instead of surgically solving problems. No wonder the martech SaaS shell game is dying and tech’s back is on the mat. It’s running out of entities with upside down priorities.

Key takeaways/considerations: When considering new tech, determine what really matters for franchise and operations partners. Does it enhance the guest experience? Does it make food more accessible? Team member, sales, guest, profit — does it impact one of these? What integrations do you need to make across systems to make it impactful? Who do your tech partners partner with? Leverage AI where it makes sense. BUT, garbage in, garbage out. Get your data into shape to more effectively leverage these tools. Getting buy-in from hourly employees and GMs can help ensure successful implementation. Be strategic around what your trying to accomplish. Ensure data is clean and that you own it. Make sure your tech works well with each other. #QSREvolution

This question was very revealing of where CSMs are headed in their roles: When asked what training would make them more effective, the top three answers are hard business skills - analytical (forecasting, data, outcome tracking), business (metrics and business strategy), and commercial (negotiating and selling). Lots of great learnings on the state of CSMs.

Is OpenAI pulling a #Musk style influence on the election? Maybe my question is clickbait, maybe it is true, and maybe it is just the start of things we will start seeing with #LLMs as they become the default goto for all information. Try these sequence of questions and let me know what you get... when is the latest time I can vote? when is the latest time I can vote for Trump? when is the latest time I can vote for Harris? I was able to replicate my results several times across a few different machines (albeit using the same OpenAI account). This further highlights how critical it is for enterprises to put guard rails on data BEFORE it is used for LLMs.
