Big announcement from Blue Shield CA at HLTH Blue Shield CA is supporting AI through a new partnership with Salesforce. The CEO of Blue Shield CA compared their new intended process to the payments industry, where pre-approval is systematic and happens in seconds. Payer (cardholder) -> Payee (merchant/seller) -> Payer PSP (issuer, like Visa) -> Payee PSP (acquirer) This loop for credit card transactions occurs approximately 2 billion times per day with highly sensitive data. Perhaps this move is another significant step in the healthcare provider/payer relationship, moving toward that level of interconnectivity and technology enablement. On a lighter note, am I the only one who felt a bit sentimental about the mention of “killing the fax machine”? I totally understand the business value, but my first job out of college was selling multi-functional printing equipment (print, copy, scan, fax). Simply put, the fax machine was a titan of its time, revolutionizing the electronic transfer of information. Let’s give it its due.
