Beyond getting this repealed, lawmakers and the CDTFA need to be pushed to build a real plan, not a concept of one, that involves working with the industry to helps the CDTFAs tax collection issue, and our tax woes.

As the cannabis industry matures, we are starting to get reliable data. This can help make decisions based on real sales figures and not predictions. 10 years ago, there was only one state with adult use sales (#colorado) and a handful of states with medical seals. Now there is 24 sates with adult use sales and an additional 15 states with medical seals. At the moment #california leads with total seals but #michigan leads with per capita seals. #florida leads in medical seals. #missouri with a relatively small population and only 17 months since they launched their adult-use market, is already in fifth place. There are 5 common license types for manufacturers in California. In the simplest terms, manufacturers, sometimes referred to as producers, make alcohol products. Below is a short summary of these license types. Requires RBS certification for alcohol servers and their managers. ✅Distilled Spirits Manufacturer’s Agent (Type 05) – Permits possession, export, or cut, blend, mix, flavor, and color distilled spirits for their own account or for the account of another manufacturer, and the packaging and the sale or delivery thereof. ✅Rectifier (Type 07) – Allows the cut, blend, rectify, mix, flavor, and color distilled spirits and wine upon which excise tax has been paid and, whether rectified by the licensee or another person, to package, label, export, and sell the products to persons holding licenses authorizing the sale of distilled spirits. ✅Distilled Spirits Rectifier’s General (Type 24) – authorizes the holder to cut, blend, rectify, mix, flavor, and color distilled spirits and, whether so cut, blended, mixed, flavored, or colored by the licensee or any other person, to package, label, export, and sell the distilled spirits to distilled spirit manufacturers. ✅Craft Distiller (Type 74) – authorizes the manufacture up to 150,000 gallons per fiscal year of distilled spirits, excluding brandy. A Week of Wins & Losses for California's Cannabis Industry. Governor Gavin Newsom has vetoed a bill that would have allowed sales farmers markets, dashing hopes for small growers to sell directly to consumers. This decision highlights the ongoing challenges small businesses face in navigating California's complex cannabis regulations. However, it's not all bad news! Newsom signed a separate measure to legalize cannabis cafes, similar to those in the Netherlands. Starting January 1, consumers will be able to enjoy cannabis in social settings, such as cafes where they can sip coffee, eat, and listen to music. As Assembly Member Matt Haney stated: "Lots of people want to enjoy legal cannabis in the company of others, and there's no doubt that cannabis cafes will bring massive economic, cultural, and creative opportunities to our state." With local approvals still pending, this new law could reshape how consumers experience cannabis in California. New Mexico Cannabis - May Sales Data. May featured warmer weather, longer days, nine Fri/Sat days, two holidays, and graduations. How did sales end up? 1⃣ REC sales up 1.1% and REC transactions up 4.8% leading to... 2⃣ Lowest REC AOV all-time ($40.36). Last May, REC AOV stood at $42.22. This indicates further erosion and depression on retail margins and the effects of strengthening consumer preference for vapes (carts + disposables) and pre-rolls ☞June 2023: Vapes --> 13.7% of retail SKUs; Pre-Rolls --> 16.3% ☞May 2024: Vapes --> 25.8% of retail SKUs; Pre-Rolls --> 19.8%) 3⃣ REC transactions are at an all-time high, illustrating the continued demand of the TX cannabis shopper. If the manufacturing demand planning did not factor in over 950k in REC transactions last month, we may see stockouts of popular SKUs. At 1.6 to 2.0 items per transaction, that's 1.52mm to 1.9mm units sold with retail inventory depleted. Brands and manufacturers are getting much-needed sales boosts with these low retail inventory levels. 4⃣ MMJ sales, as a percentage of total cannabis sales, is at 24.5%, an all-time low.
