Everyone wants to score the big sale: the big piece of capital equipment or those high-cost disposables (think orthopedic implants, pacemakers, etc.). But establishing a steady account takes time when it comes to the above. What should you do in the interim? Look for opportunities to deliver value. Value. What does that mean? Make your prospects and customers aware of something that could benefit them or that they might find "valuable" (that's what delivering value means). But how do you get paid in the meantime? Sell the less glamorous, lower ticket items if you can. Look for products that support what your stakeholders are already doing. And when you do this, go above and beyond to deliver a commodity in a non-commodity way. How did you keep the sales flowing before you started closing profitable business consistently? Inquiring minds want to know...

Repswear 101…..20yr old construct removals. At Alliance Medical LLC we always try to get imaging at least 3 days before a revision case to leverage our network to identify the hardware. Sometimes, we fail and cannot identify the hardware. So what’s your move? Hope universal removal set can get it out and deal with the docs frustration then?….bring in multiple companies best guess at it?…give the doctor the excuse ahead of time? What would a surgeon prefer? Curious to hear everyone’s play on this. Side note: there are actually a few docs out there that enjoy the challenge of figuring out how to removal obsoleted hardware. So you are currently a successful w2 rep for a large spine company and want to make the jump to being a distributor. How do you do it? The bigger question is who do want to be? Option 1: The exclusive distributor The exclusive distributor carries mainly 1 manufacturer and gets an initual gaurantee then reduced commission points down the line. Pro- You make more money than w2 for the first couple of years Cons- You are given a quota You have a noncompete You can get fired (which would enact the noncompete) Your commission points can be reduced without recourse You cannot sell other competitive manufacturer products *this is basically W2 without benefits (but is actually the right choice in some models). Option 2: The device broker The med device broker carries multiple lines that enables the surgeon customer to customize the surgery to the individual patient? Pros Higher commission points long term Product/Procedural autonomy More options/methods of partnership No quotas No noncompetes Ability to better partner with facilities Cons No first year gaurantee You have the burden of choice (this is a con to some sheeple) You have to develop your own processes This is a choice between temporary discomfort for long term enjoyment or temporary comfort for longterm constraint/frustration. ………… Zavation Medical Products, LLC Precision Spine Cerapedics Inc. 𝑴𝒚 𝑻𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 🔹 All Reps Have Challenges In 2024 🔹 Commission Rate Is Mainly A Big Ortho Problem This is continually confirmed by my conversations with Big Ortho Reps. Happy Friday all! If you’re looking for a reason to jump on that second scanner, check out this short clip. Here, Dr. Armen Mirzayan scans the same lower arch case with both the icam PG machine and the new Shining 3D Aoralacan Elite.
