Greatly enjoyed and appreciate the opportunity to be part of a panel discussion on my favorite topic – #AML #riskassessment, which is the cornerstone to demonstrating #effectiveness, and often including #efficiency, of the #AFC program. One notable key takeaway from “Lessons Learned from Recent Enforcement Actions” session is not only the critical role of #BSA/ #AML risk assessments, but in particular, where the approval of such #riskassessments by the #Board of Directors must be documented in #boardminutes – “Board shall review and #provide_credible_challenge to the BSA/AML and OFAC #riskassessments and document its review in the Board minutes.” The perfunctory approval by the Board is no longer acceptable – there has to be a discussion of the #riskassessment results, and they need to be minuted. Now, that’s setting the #tonefromthetop – and inculcating a true #cultureofcompliance.
