NetEase will be paying Chinese WoW players who report cheaters, bots, and other bad actors 💰 From now through July 28th players who successfully report accounts that are breaking the rules can earn over $150 in Battlenet value. Coupang's offer packages are quite competitive. Here's a $549k offer for a staff software engineer submitted on Levels.fyi. You'll notice it resembles Amazon's compensation structure very closely with some slight differences. The stock vesting schedule is backloaded, with 10% vesting in the first two years and 40% in the latter two. The first two years include heavy sign on bonuses to offset the initial vesting period. In 2015, Notion almost died. So, the founders moved from SF to Kyoto to build in peace. Last year, they hit $10 BILLION in valuation. Two things that got them there: 1. Focused Product 2. Community-led growth Bookmark this one 👇 Ivan Zhao and Simon Last started Notion in 2013 with the vision to give non-technical users the ability to make their own tools. It did well, and they expanded the vision: all-in-one workspace for entrepreneurs. They launched the beta in 2015. And it imploded. No users, bad feedback, and it constantly crashed. Plus they were running out of money. So Ivan and Simon laid off their employees, left SF and moved to Kyoto, Japan. "No one there spoke any English, and we didn't speak Japanese. There was nothing to do except code." They stayed focused on their original mission: no-code tools for non-technical founders to build their businesses. And they built it obsessively: both in the weeds of every piece of code and every design decision. By 2018, they were ready to launch. Notion 1.0 came out that year. And it exploded. Users loved the UX, convenience, and thoughtfulness that went into the product. Some even called it "a milestone in the history of UX design." Just look at how simple the home screen is. Hiding behind is a very powerful tool you can run a business using. And they keep iterating, but with the same core in mind. In the last 5 years, they've gone viral. Everyone uses Notion. But there's one more part of the story: community-led growth. Early on, they'd see users post on Twitter and Reddit about how they were setting up their workspaces and different things one could do with Notion. Camille, Notion's Head of Marketing, noticed this and went all-in. She hired Ben Long to head the community, and they launched V1 of their ambassador program. It was a super-hit. r/Notion, started by ambassadors now has 300k+ members, and those ambassadors still manage this subreddit. Then TikToks exploded with workspaces, notes and to-do systems. Massive YouTubers got in on the Notion train. People began building businesses out of selling templates! And Notion keeps growing. 30% + growth on a base of 35 million users! What a business. What a team.

Low-hanging fruits 🍉🍇🍈 with the speculation rules API! Last week, I added a small script to one of our supported shops. Without getting too nerdy here, the speculation rules API is about the following: A user browses a page, hovers over a few links, and navigates further. The browser fetches the links hovered before and serves them to the user as soon as he clicks them. This results in a massively improved performance. With the help of Jordy and Erwin, I am happy to present some results from the weekend's traffic. About 10% of all visitors had access to the new feature. These 10% actively work towards a hot cache for all other users, resulting in a 20% faster LCP on mobile and a 13% faster LCP on desktop. On mobile, we see FCP being 25% faster. On desktop, about 12%. We've tracked the performance with RUMvision throughout the weekend. We expect to see more benefits as soon as people access that new feature.

I am launching a sandbox for AI startups. As AI continues to drive unprecedented growth in the tech sector—with companies like Nvidia seeing their revenues surge by 50% in just one year and AI-powered startups raising billions—it's clear that those leveraging AI have a distinct advantage. For those not yet integrating AI, the risk of falling behind is significant. However, this challenge also opens the door for new voices and fresh perspectives. 🚀 "𝗔 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻." Early in his product management career, Ken Norton learned a hard truth: what the team sees as a feature, the user might see as a bug. Ken’s Team at Google were excited about delivering new features for google doc — a revamped interface, advanced customization options, and more. But when they spoke to their users, their message was clear: "𝗙𝗶𝘅 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁." It was a wake-up call. As product managers, we often focus on innovation and differentiation, but none of it matters if the core experience doesn’t work. Users won’t notice the bells and whistles when their basic needs aren’t met. Here’s what I learned: 1️⃣ 𝗔𝘀𝗸 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗰𝘁. Users don’t just want to be heard—they want their pain points solved. 2️⃣ 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗴𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀. Fix what’s broken before adding something new. 3️⃣ 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗹𝘆. Not everything is equally important, even if it looks that way on paper. They first fixed the issues, and only then moved to the exciting stuff. The result? A better experience, happier users, and stronger growth. Google Docs has higher active monthly users compared to Microsoft Word now. 💡 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁; 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀.
