How our Massachusetts based award winning bookkeeping firm supports our CPA firm relationships As a ten year old award winning franchise of Supporting Strategies, a premier national small business bookkeeping and operational accounting firm, we have a specialized role when supporting our tax strategist and CPA firm relationships. Our focus, when working in conjunction with a small, regional or national CPA firm as a partner, is to manage and correctly track and record the historical record keeping regarding to the financial transactions of the mutual client that we have with the CPA firm. We track the cash activity of the business, cleanup and improve the Chart of Accounts, clean up the balance sheet, or build it as needed, pay the bills using state of the art secure software to firmly control the funds leaving the company treasury to pay vendors, lenders and to make payroll. We produce the income statement, the cash flow statements and the balance sheet, monthly, or as needed. We will make sure the banks used by the mutual client are electronically connected to Quick books online on a READ ONLY basis so that we can download and reconcile the bank and credit card ( expense) statements to keep the financials current and meaningful. Many times, when we work in conjunction with a CPA firm, the CPA firm will guide us with journal entries, for our mutual client, that directly relate to, for example, tax strategy, retained earnings, equity status per partner after distributions or re-investments, or to assist our mutual client in understanding what might be possible and pragmatic in terms of  Compensation for a given year or quarter. Keeping in mind that we may sometimes do a cash compilation of the financials for our mutual client, the client and CPA firm may decide to pay taxes on an accrual, rather than cash, basis depending upon the tax strategy that is decided upon. Our firm is the historical record keeper, we don’t file or complete the tax strategy, we support it through our services. Our partnership, with tax CPA firms is ideal in the accounting world as the separation of duties concept ( or principal) is tantamount in importance in our world. It is a best practice to separate bookkeeping from tax strategy in the world of business, especially small business. Our target clients produce between 1 and 25 million a year in revenues and are involved in all verticals.
