I am on a mission to cure Seriousitis™. Seriousitis™ is an inflammatory disease defined by a grave, solemn, and somber demeanor. It’s often full of excuses, blame, upset, and even anger. In America, Seriousitis™ has become the norm. Most people have it unknowingly or are carriers. Unlike affirmative health, it’s accompanied by depression, obsession, and repression of joy, hope, and enthusiasm for life. Seriousitis™ creates physical, mental, and emotional stress, leading to ailments and contributing to the fall of empires like Egypt, Rome, Greece, and Great Britain. Many of us exhibit signs of this disease. The key is finding the cure and becoming the YES AND-ers. I teach the cure because I have the disease. Here are some signs of Seriousitis™: Those with all the answers (ME!) Blamers, crybabies, whiners, addicts, and fanatics Those with excuse-itis Those who only know what they don’t want Those in physical and/or emotional pain Procrastinators and full-time analyzers Egotists who: Have to be right Can’t make a mistake Think they know everything Those who believe they are nouns The angry, fearful, and ungrateful The what-if-ers and yeah butt-ers The lazy, careless, and whatever-ists, the listless The mean and the nasty The scripters, those who only converse with preplanned monologues The hopeless, helpless, and misaligned Those with stinking thinking: should, ought to, have to, must do, never, always, doubt, can’t, blame, try, worry, and the most odiferous word hate, which is not the opposite of love but the opposite of life itself!
