How can you stay focused on long-term projects in Change Management?
Celebrating 'tiny wins' is one of the well-regarded science-backed principles that can keep people focused long-term projects. Teresa Amabile's TED talk 'Track your small wins to motivate big accomplishments' is a good intro to this idea. Here are some simple and practical ways to do this: - Use kudos boards, whether physical ones or digital ones using technology like Teams/Zoom white boards, 'Kudos' board, or Mentimeter - Feature a story in a project or department newsletter - Open all-hands call with a moment of celebration asking, "Is there one of your coworkers you want to recognize?" - Ask a team member to prepare a celebration story using the prompt: "Here is how our project helped a customer with their pain point last week..."

How can you use breakout sessions to encourage participation in a group discussion?
Communicating ahead of time that breakout rooms will be used can be helpful for many people who dread small groups, or are typically multitasking on calls. A helpful signal phrase like "We'll be using breakout rooms, prepare to be on camera" in pre-event communications can help.

How can you use breakout sessions to encourage participation in a group discussion?
For many people, being invited to a breakout room carries an expectation of being able to use their voice and speak up - so match the size of the breakout room to the length of time in the room. You won't want 15 people invited to a breakout room for 5 minutes.
