Stanford University's Center for Research on Foundation Models is the leading authority on evaluating AI models. Proud to see IBM's Granite model do so well in their recent Foundation Model Transparency Index. IBM Granite model is ahead of OpenAI's GPT-4, Google Gemini and Microsoft Phi-2. We believe openness drives innovation and trust. Worth considering as you choose an enterprise AI partner. https://ibm.biz/Bdmgzv

OpenAI’s Sam Altman Predicts Superintelligent Machines by 2025! In a bold declaration, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman forecasts the dawn of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) as early as 2025. Altman asserts that the path to AGI is “basically clear,” framing it as an engineering challenge poised for imminent conquest. Link to the interview witb YC: https://lnkd.in/gDt2CBeY Contrasting this optimism, Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, urges caution. He emphasizes the complexities and potential risks of advanced AI, advocating for a measured approach to ensure alignment with human values. As the race toward superintelligent AI intensifies, the tech world stands at a pivotal crossroads between rapid innovation and responsible development. I personally want to thank Lex Fridman, thank you for asking such insightful questions and providing valuable insights. These conversations are crucial in discussing AI safety and the potential role of AGI in shaping the future of society.

Are LLMs better than humans at financial forecasting? In very interesting research, "Financial Statement Analysis with Large Language Models" by Alex G. Kim, Maximilian Muhn, and Valeri V. Nikolaev, they explored the ability of large language models (LLMs) to perform financial statement analysis, a task typically done by human analysts. The study found that the LLM outperformed human analysts in predicting the direction of future earnings, with an accuracy of 60% compared to 53% for human analysts. They also found that the LLM's predictions were complementary to those of human analysts and that the LLM tended to perform well when human analysts struggled. The immediate takeaways? Every finance team should be using LLMs to augment their financial forecasting process. And AI-based forecasting will only continue to improve, while human accuracy will not.

AI isn’t just a trend — it’s a way of doing business. And the data backs it up. In a new survey of 800 senior managers at large firms, 72% are using generative AI at least once a week, double the number from just last year. And the real story? It’s not just about the technology. Companies are investing heavily in people. About 1/3 of AI spending goes to technology. The rest is invested in upskilling, onboarding, and consulting. AI adoption isn’t just in tech departments anymore. It’s spreading across Marketing, Sales, Operations, HR, and more, with Marketing seeing a tripling in adoption since 2023. Even better, 90% of leaders say AI enhances employee skills, and concerns about job replacement are slowly fading. If you’re not thinking about how to get your teams ready for AI, now is the time. Ask yourself: - How can I invest in my team’s AI knowledge? - What processes in my department could benefit from AI? - How will my team’s roles evolve with AI in the picture? It’s not just about having the best tools. It’s about having people ready to use them. *Source: Wharton AI & Analytics Initiative - keep up the great work! It’s becoming increasingly clear that traditional RAG implementations fall short of unlocking the full potential of LLMs in large enterprises. The intricate and interconnected nature of enterprise data demands RAG systems that can effectively 'connect the dots' to deliver superior insights. Graph RAG is emerging as a powerful solution. Organizations have insufficient technical capabilities for the speed and scale of their ML model implementations. My colleague Sumit Agarwal just published a very helpful research with a capability view and sample vendors for defining a modular, flexible and scalable MLOps solution. https://lnkd.in/gnB_T9bq #MLOps #LLMOps #AI

Working with generative #AI tools like Microsoft #Copilot is a dynamic and interactive process. Fortunately, you don't have to be a computer scientist to get the most out of AI. Three basic steps for giving instructions make it as easy as ASKing for what you need: 1️⃣ Action: Start by explaining what you want the AI tool, like Microsoft Copilot, to do. 2️⃣ Style: Describe the format or presentation you prefer for the AI's response. 3️⃣ Key details: Provide additional context about your preferences, interests, or situation to help AI provide more personalized and relevant responses. The more details you give, the better response you'll get. Instead of treating AI like a search engine, try interacting with it like you do a colleague. You might be surprised at the quality of the answers you get when you just ASK:

I just published a new blog on how we are seeing many architectures for intelligent organizations use the same pattern of combining LLMs and Knowledge Graphs. I use the metaphor of Convergent Evolution to illustrate these points. The LLM will see you now: Google and DeepMind released a paper on Monday describing Med-Gemini, a group of advanced AI models targeting healthcare applications. The authors claim that Med-Gemini is outperforming competing models such as OpenAI’s GPT-4. During the pandemic we saw the rise of Telehealth which has largely come back to earth but could doctors be consulting more often with AI? (We know they already Google stuff) #Healthcare #AI
