The study reveals a widening gap, with private plans paying an average of 2.5 times more than Medicare. Like hybrid policies” Great question! “Asset-based” is generally synonymous with “linked benefit,” implying that there is an “accelerated death benefit” *plus* a second pool of benefits explicitly for LTC. “Linked benefit” plans (aka “asset-based” plans) can be funded with both a single premium “asset” or an ongoing annual premium. It’s a legit point of confusion. I prefer the term “Linked benefit” for this reason as it describes the nature of the benefit structure in lieu of the premium design. The key for the LTC convo is to find out which of the three main strategies is going to apply best for each client *before* you start throwing numbers and illustrations out there. 1. Pure long-term care 2. Life with accelerated death benefits 3. Linked benefit LTC This is why we no longer blindly run quotes without a true discovery call that uncovers the best strategy.
