When does a "rebate" become a bribe? Hmm. Is it intent? Is it effect? Does it really matter? Let the word games begin. Payments for influence are rampant in health benefits. Transparency comes in many flavors, some more transparent than others. If regulators really want to change the game, find a way to outlaw rebates. In the meantime, we'll keep passing whatever we can get through to our clients, give them clear, cost-plus pricing, provide client-centered/clinically-backed formularies, and leverage their drug investment to reduce high medical costs. #1 skill I’ve seen consistent across sales reps Is their ability to stay organized. It doesn’t mean unorganized reps can’t be successful, I know plenty that are. But a rep that can consistently execute a process will win a lot more often. This goes for: - Prospecting - Deals in early stages & follow up - Deal alignment with multiple stakeholders - Multi-threading - etc. Sadly, most deals are lost due to poor organization and follow up. 🚨Walmart is shutting down the Walmart Health clinics and virtual health programs, citing an unsustainable business model.¹ 📢 Why does this matter? This is a huge shift in the retail healthcare landscape with huge implications for the U.S. healthcare system. Walmart's move comes as a surprise, as the company had recently positioned itself as a key player in the retail healthcare space, offering in-person clinics and virtual care options to consumers.² However, Walmart's press release indicates that the company has determined there is not a sustainable business model for continuing these healthcare initiatives.³ This decision will undoubtedly impact health consumers in the U.S., who have come to rely on the convenience and accessibility of retail healthcare options. Retail healthcare has been seen as a way to increase access to care, particularly in underserved areas⁴ but with Walmart's withdrawal from this space we'll have a void that needs to be filled. You may be great at sales if... - You're the person in your relationship that has to call customer service. - You are the friend that your friends elected to shoulder tap asking strangers to buy you booze when you were underage. - If you go hard af playing board games with your family and want to see their demise Yahtzee. - You remember your bartender/servers name and they remember yours. - You are one of the funnier friends in your group of friends. - You don't really care what people think but you also really want people to like you, but you also don't really care, but you do sorta care. - You ever called an airline after they canceled your flight and used the phrase "this is unacceptable". - Your teachers used to send report cards home in elementary school with the note "talks too much to classmates". Total War. What we're seeing unfold is an all-out assault on a business model that is increasingly described as "perverse," "anti-competitive," "deceptive," and a host of other adjectives. The fact that the "Big 3 PBMs" are under legal attack by the government as well as their clients should put all those working with them on notice. Where there is smoke, there is fire....and it's catching. We're watching history and it's going to get way more interesting. The parallel sideline to this contest is the building wave of employee/plan member suits now emerging as employer/plan sponsors feel the angst of employees demanding better stewardship of their health benefit dollars. Grab the popcorn because there is going to be lots to see. Now on full display is a growing awareness of the moral responsibility associated with our health benefits; good stewardship is no longer just the "right" approach to health costs and outcomes, it is has grown to encompass the legal element as well, bringing the notion of risk to center stage. What is the most important thing you've learned about creating happy franchisees? Here's a short list that may help to answer that question: ▶ Be respectful. Franchisees are of the view that investing in your Brand entitles them to due respect. ▶ Get to know your Franchisees...remember something personal about each one. ▶ Understand that the Franchisor's ability to innovate often outweighs the Franchisee's ability to accommodate. ▶ Don't make assumptions. Survey franchisee's and listen to what is being said. ▶ Admit mistakes. This builds trust and credibility. ▶ Develop a culture of responsiveness.
