A "muniment of title" refers to a legal document that stands for itself, such as deeds and other written documents that prove ownership of an asset. Texas is the only state in the country that allows a will to be probated as a muniment of title. This allows smaller estates with limited debts and assets to avoid the formal probate process. Big news out of Texas today...A federal court ruled that the CTA and its related regulations are likely unconstitutional and enjoined the CTA and its reporting obligations ahead of the upcoming December 31 reporting deadline. A governmental appeal is likely forthcoming. Reporting companies and their beneficial owners that have not filed their BOI reports under the CTA should stay tuned.
