    The City of Palo Alto Office of Emergency Services set up the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) in preparation for major catastrophes, such as large earthquakes. This includes twenty-four hours of training over three weeks in fire suppression, search, rescue, and field first aid. Every quarter, we participate in a citywide test of FRS radio to ensure communication between police, fire, and medical rescue. I'm one of the CERTs for our neighborhood.
