What do you do if your motivational speaking career is shifting to remote work?
When COVID first hit I went overboard with technology and spent a fortune on multiple Sony cameras, tons of professional lighting, and equipment that would allow me to switch between cameras as I thought I needed to “be fancy.” After a while I ended up just using a Logitech Brio and a ring light as I realized that if your content and delivery are strong/compelling— you don’t need a lot of fancy av equipment. You really don’t. Focus on your material and your delivery. You want every person on the webinar to feel like you are speaking directly to them. And BONUS: you can do multiple speeches in a day and reach even more people than you would have if you were speaking in person. There are a LOT of benefits to speaking virtually. 🙌

ON THE EDGE: The Art of High Impact Leadership
Grand Central Publishing (Jan 7, 2014)
A history-making adventurer, Levine has conquered the highest peak on each continent, served as team captain of the first American Women’s Everest Expedition, and skied to both the North and South Poles. In On the Edge, she chronicles the ups and downs of her expeditions and makes a compelling case that the leadership principles that apply in the world of extreme adventure also apply to today's rigorously competitive business environments. Both settings require you to make critical decisions when the conditions around you are far from perfect. Your survival—and the survival of your team—depend on it.
Levine currently serves as an adjunct instructor at West Point and on the board of the Coach K Center on Leadership & Ethics at Duke University. The advice she offers throughout the book comes not only from her own experiences in life or death situations, but also from lessons she learned from decorated military officers, successful business leaders, and legendary sports heroes. Much of it is flat-out contrarian and flies in the face of what you’ve been told by well-known management gurus and highly-paid executive coaches: encourage big egos, go backward – away from your goal, ignore the rules, ditch the plan, deprive yourself of sleep, and reward failure. But it worked for her. And it can work for you too. Levine’s approach is candid, direct, and perhaps even politically incorrect, because that’s how people tend to talk when there’s no one from human resources around.
On the Edge provides a roadmap to help you scale whatever big peaks you aspire to climb—be they literal or figurative—by offering practical, humorous, and often unorthodox advice about how to reach your potential as a leader.
