Very timely, and should be insightfully interesting debate. I think, its a must for any energy industry professional and stakeholder. Simple questions lead to complex answers: How come predictions and projections made by energy experts, just 20 years back (recall the early 2,000s) have all turned out wrong today!! What happened, here?? And, what makes us think that we may not be wrong again in 20 yrs from now. What would ENERGY 2040 look like? How do we successfully transition into a new era of safe, abundant, flexible, equitable and reliable energy?? Look forward to it.

Excited to share Marathon Venture Capital's investment in Eva Magnisali's DataForm Lab! Construction is large enough to be measured in GDP terms, yet remains a laggard in the adoption of automation. Our buildings are still constructed manually! Offsite manufacturing, i.e. assembling buildings in factories, provides the perfect canvas for putting automation to work – still, however, robots are nowhere to be seen... Eva studied architecture and robotics, and worked with design firms, developers and industry vendors, realising first hand what's keeping the industry stuck in the past. Then she got to work... Dataform Lab's software platform translates designs to production drawings and machine code, along with optimising processes and scheduling, essentially offering a modern operating system for construction factories. The company already works with some of the most prominent offsite manufacturers worldwide. Today it announces the completion of a GBP 1.1m Seed round led by Marathon. [QUANTUM COMPUTING 2024 FUNDING] Quantum technology could create value worth trillions of dollars within the next decade. The third annual Quantum Technology Monitor synthesizes the latest opportunities in this burgeoning field. In 2023, $1.71 billion was invested in QT start-ups, which represents a 27 percent decrease from the all-time high of $2.35 billion in 2022 (Exhibit 1). Nonetheless, the decrease is smaller when compared to the 38 percent decrease for all start-ups globally. The slowdown in the number of new QT start-ups founded continues (13 in 2023 versus 23 in 2022). Deal sizes have decreased as well, with the average deal size being $40 million in 2023 compared to $105 million in 2022 and $107 million in 2021. Thanks to Lexham Partners and Dominic Perks for the event "Navigating a new world powered by AI,” where Professor Costis Daskalakis, the Avanessians Professor of Computer Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, shared some very interesting insights on AI. He was also joined by Sneh Khemka, who shared his thoughts on AI and healthcare. And the inimitable Andreas Kleinschmidt skilfully asked the questions. Key takeaways: 1️⃣ AI and machine learning have been quietly revolutionising our digital experiences for years, with Google's search algorithms as a prime example. 2️⃣ The power of Large Language Models (LLMs) emerged serendipitously, demonstrating the unexpected utility of next-word prediction at scale. 3️⃣ LLMs excel at pattern recognition, idea generation, and information processing, but have limitations in reasoning and decision-making capabilities. 4️⃣ Bias in AI remains a persistent challenge, requiring ongoing mitigation efforts. 5️⃣ Data is the new oil (or solar!) - the more pertinent it is to the application is what to aim for. The potential of comprehensive healthcare data, like from the NHS, is immense. 6️⃣ Agentic AI represents the future, offering autonomous problem-solving capabilities beyond simple instruction following. 7️⃣ In healthcare, AI will augment rather than replace human expertise. Doctors leveraging AI will have a significant advantage. 8️⃣ Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) enhances LLM accuracy by incorporating up-to-date information without extensive retraining. 9️⃣ The current optimal approach is a synergy of AI capabilities and human intelligence. I remain very positive about AI. I'm using it every day, and I think my prompting skills are pretty good now.
