Supra-foraminal, MCOWO L5 PSO following Ibrahim Obeid method (https://lnkd.in/e_XhC2Ff). Preserving the floor of L5 pedicle allows for L5 nerve root protection in the setting of adequate L5-S1 foramen. Sagittal realignment in the revision and fixed flatback setting is often more invasive when it comes to osteotomies. However, it is often mistakenly linked to performing longer fusions. In this case, achieving caudal alignment was the goal of the operation. While lateral interbody could have been deployed based on preference, it will only add another level of fusion without truly fixing the main problem, PI-L4/S1 mismatch. Journal of Dental Research Publishes Study Analyzing the Worldwide Economic Effects of Oral Health Conditions Alexandria, VA – The International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) and the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR) have announced the publication of a study in Journal of Dental Research that examines the overall effects of oral health on global, regional, and national economies. The recent WHO Oral Health Resolution and the subsequent WHO Global Oral Health Action Plan highlight the key relevance of providing information on the economic impacts of oral conditions. The purpose of this study was to provide updated estimates for the global, regional and country-level economic impacts of oral conditions in 2019. Extending previously established methods, dental expenditures (costs for treatments) and productivity losses for five oral conditions (caries in deciduous & permanent teeth, periodontitis, edentulism, other oral diseases) were estimated for the year 2019. “These findings demonstrate the enormous global economic burden that arises from oral diseases due to the costs of treatment and losses in productivity,” said JDR Editor-in-Chief Nick Jakubovics. “Oral diseases must be included in the upcoming United Nations High-Level Meetings on Non-Communicable Diseases and Universal Health Coverage.” The estimated total worldwide economic impacts of dental diseases in 2019 were $710B, whereof $387B ($327B-$404B) due to direct costs and $323B ($186B-$460B) due to productivity losses for the five main oral conditions. Low Income countries spent an average of $0.52 ($0.22-$0.96) per capita on dental care, while High Income countries spent an average of $260 ($257-$268) per capita – a 500-fold difference. These findings suggest that the prevention and treatment of oral diseases continue to substantiate an enormous economic burden to individuals and society. The comprehensiveness of estimates supersedes that of previous work as the primary information on direct costs was identified for a higher number of countries. The need for more and better routine reporting and monitoring of the economic impact of oral conditions is emphasized, particularly for the WHO Eastern Mediterranean and African regions. The relevance of such information is also highlighted by its inclusion in the first-ever WHO Global Oral Health Status Report and Global Strategy on Oral health 2023-2030. Given the persistently high economic burden of oral conditions, there is a key role for better prioritization of cost-efficient oral health programs as well as needs-responsive capacity planning. To my cardiac sonographer friends (part 12) Interventricular septum seperates the LV and RV,a ventricular septal defect is a communication within this septum. The membranous septum is a very small area in high of the Interventricular septum,If it is defected , called a membranous VSD ,because the membranous (on the right septum side) is located between the anterior and septal leaflets of the Tricuspid Valve, the Gerbode defect results in a LV-to-RA shunt,whenever this shunt is detected,the VSD is called Gerbode defect Note that the membranous septum is higher than the cardiac conduction system (figure B),so the pure defect has no effect on the cardiac conduction. If you pay attention to the figure C,you see the membranous septum(on the left septum side)is adjacent to the non coronary cusp and right coronary cusp of aortic valve,so the defect could be associated with the these cusps prolapses and aortic valve regurgitation. The another important issue : Septal TV leaflet tissue can completely or partially close the membranous defect. #cardilogy #echocardiography

Mpox (Monkeypox) Mpox (Monkeypox) is a viral zoonotic disease caused by the monkeypox virus, a part of the Orthopoxvirus genus. 🌟Transmission ✅Animal to Human: Through direct contact with blood, bodily fluids, or cutaneous or mucosal lesions of infected animals. ✅Human to Human: Via respiratory droplets, contact with infected bodily fluids or lesions, and contaminated materials. 🌟Symptoms ✅Incubation period: Typically 6-13 days. ✅Symptoms: Fever, rash (often starting on the face then spreading), swollen lymph nodes, headache, muscle aches, and exhaustion. ✅Rash evolves from macules to papules, vesicles, pustules, and finally scabs over a period of 2-4 weeks. 🌟Diagnosis - Based on clinical presentation and confirmed via laboratory tests like PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) for viral DNA. 🌟Treatment ✅No specific treatment; care is mainly supportive. ✅Antivirals like Tecovirimat may be used in severe cases. ✅Vaccination with the smallpox vaccine can provide cross-protection. 🌟Infection Prevention & Control ✅Standard Precautions - Hand hygiene: Regular handwashing with soap & water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer. - Use of personal protective equipment (PPE): Gloves, gowns, masks, and eye protection when necessary. - Respiratory hygiene: Masks for patients with respiratory symptoms. - Safe injection practices & disposal of sharps. 🌟Isolation Precautions ✅Contact Precautions: Use of gloves and gowns when entering the patient’s room. ✅Airborne Precautions: Suitable for patients with respiratory symptoms; use of N95 respirators or equivalent. ✅Environmental Cleaning: Regular cleaning and disinfection of surfaces and equipment. ✅Waste Management: Proper disposal of contaminated materials. 🌟Patient Care -✅Isolate infected individuals ✅Limit the movement of patients ✅Use dedicated medical equipment for infected patients 🌟Nursing Care ✅Assessment - Regular monitoring of vital signs, hydration status, and symptom progression. - Assessment for complications such as secondary bacterial infections. ✅Symptom Management - Administer antipyretics for fever and pain relief. - Maintain skin integrity: Keep skin clean and dry; use topical treatments for rash. - Hydration: Encourage fluid intake to prevent dehydration. - Nutritional support: Ensure adequate nutrition. ✅Psychosocial Support - Provide emotional support & reassurance pts - Educate patients about the disease, its transmission, & prevention of spread. ✅Education and Communication - Educate healthcare workers on IPC measures & proper use of PPE. - Inform patients their families about hygiene practices and isolation procedures. 🌟Summary Mpox is a viral disease with significant public health implications.
