With the supposed introduction of the CSLR next year, I thought a little deep dive into the growth in fees to provide advice each year might be interesting. Keep in mind, these fees don't include licensing fees - which by definition should cover everything. These additional fees have started creeping in since 2017, and have crept up quite quickly. Once I had a bit of a clear picture, I asked some mates in medicine and law to provide the same. What became clear is the fees it takes to practice in advice in Australia are on a wild upward trajectory. And what I'm sure of, is if this latest 'levy' is introduced next year, we all know it will be baked in immediately. It's quite clear government bodies aren't particularly interested in reducing revenue once a tap is turned on. So this idea that a four-year levy will magically disappear in 2029 is more than likely not going to happen. So, what can Ensombl do? We don't do advocacy. There are some great minds already tackling things head on. But we can help elsewhere. Our goal is to save time for every stakeholder who touches CPD. As you can imagine, that's a few people. From compliance and learning teams inside of licensees, to advisers who complete the education. The upcoming CPD platform will remove the embarrassing waste of your time dealing with PDFs and automate the admin.

I've simplified this whole process down to 3 simple steps... Wealth building through the ABS framework A - acquire equity in an asset (in this case a business). B - build up the value of your equity S - sell some or all of it in a liquidity event The richest in the world have used this process to skyrocket to the "richest XYZ" list, but there is an amazing opportunity happening for small business owners to do the same thing. We're starting to see this exposure to M&A happen in the internet marketing space (Hormozi & Sam Ovens linking up w/ Skool)... And it's happening in DTC brands too (not in VC, but in PE). I think the next 3-5 years will be a HUGE opportunity for founders to exit in the $1 - $10m range... There's a huge gap in this space. The founders who get it, get it & they could rinse & repeat it a few times under the radar ✌️.

Investing in shophouses in the current environment is a popular topic of discussion. Are they sound, yield accretive, and more profitable than other asset classes? According to recent news, the founder of Bridgewater, Ray Dalio, seems to think so. He was identified as the buyer of Club Street shophouses sold in 2021. Phenomenal interview with the CEO of Newmarket Capital Andrew Hohns. Newmarket is innovating by providing a loan to the owners of a large multi-family property to repay existing debts and conduct renovations. Seems normal. So what makes this unique? As part of the loan agreement, Newmarket also provided financing to purchase 20 bitcoin as part of the loan deal to collateralise the debt. Why did they do this? In the near-term, bitcoin is volatile. But the minimum holding period as part of this agreement is 4 years, with a maximum loan duration of 10 years. Over 4 years the lowest total return is 23%, but on average returns are >90%. Over 10 years, the returns in bitcoin are generally nothing short of phenomenal. By collateralising the loan with bitcoin, Newmarket may be able to enhance the expected return of their loans over the long-term. The long-term investment strategy is what is sorely needed from investors who are looking at bitcoin and worrying about short-term pullbacks. If you're trying to make a quick buck, i.e., in <4 years - then crypto and #bitcoin is probably not for you. Opinion: You Could Make $5k, $10k, $20k, $50k, or Even $100k from Domain Investing! There are still plenty of great unregistered #domain names out there, waiting for savvy domain investors to discover them. Never settle for “okay” names. If you want to be competitive—and successful—aim high and hand-register or invest only in exceptional domain names. It’s possible to register a domain for $12 and flip it for $100k, but that requires setting a high standard and using the best tools available. Don’t be arrogant, but do be strategic. Good and okay names aren’t enough for those (new or vet domain investors) who want real #success in this field.

There is a difference between: “everyone who bought through the bottom in the GFC did well” and buying a 5-cap today. Lot of upward pressure on yields in the treasury market today. If you want to make this argument, need data showing future rent growth and below market in-place rents.

The claim is being made that the capital gains reserve is now more important than ever because of the new Capital Gains Inclusion Rate of 66% on gains over $250k. Not really. This is implying that some people would be purposely delaying getting paid on a sale of capital assets so that they could pay a little less tax over subsequent years. You might be paying less tax, but you ALSO AREN'T GETTING THE MONEY FROM THE SALE, which you could use to invest in other places, or give away etc. Deferring gains one year MIGHT work out, but deferring the gains into a second year would most likely be a profit losing strategy
