🌟 In honour of Carers Rights Day in the UK, we celebrate the great work of Zinc portfolio company Mobilise | B Corp. 🌟 In the UK, 10.6m people — around 9% of the population — are unpaid carers. Mobilise is dedicated to ensuring that no one has to navigate a caregiving role alone. Their mission is to provide support and resources to unpaid carers, helping them to care for their loved ones while maintaining their own well-being. 👇 In this this UKTN article, founder James Townsend shares his motivation for building Mobilise and talks about why first-time founders should focus on 'unsexy' problems... https://lnkd.in/eVvUfknV

Really enjoyed chatting to UKTN about #unpaidcarers and the work Mobilise | B Corp is doing to improve the availability of support for them. Too often the tech world is focused on shiny new things but there's so much we can be doing to apply tech to the big social challenges of our time. For me it brings motivation, and helps recruit outstanding talent who are looking to make the world a better place. ⭐ We are thrilled to announce Zinc’s pre-seed investment into Microsol, a Bristol-based startup revolutionising the development of inhaled and nasal drug products ⭐ 🚀 This funding round will help propel founder Dr Dan Hardy and the team on their mission to enable more efficient and effective drug delivery for respiratory illnesses. 🧪 While the pace of innovation in the development of novel therapeutics is accelerating, R&D cycles for inhaled and nasal drug products remain long and complex. 📈 Microsol’s technology platform brings together advanced hardware innovation with unique measurement and computational simulation capabilities to enable pharmaceutical companies to save money, resources and vastly expedite their inhaled drug R&D cycles. The team has made incredible progress in a short space of time, with paying pharma customers in the UK and US, key R&D partnerships in place, and a growing IP portfolio. Dan has built a world-class founding team of brilliant scientists: Microsol’s computational work is led by Victoria Legh-Land, who holds a PhD in respiratory drug delivery, and leading aerosol researcher Dr Al Haddrell brings over 20 years expertise in pharmaceutical and bioaerosol applications. This investment sits within Zinc’s thesis to back deep tech and cutting edge scientific innovation to solve the most critical challenges facing the health of people and the planet - and we couldn’t be more excited to partner with Dan and the team through this next phase of their growth! 👉 Read on to learn more about the Microsol journey: https://lnkd.in/eiCQudQd Natalie Pankova, PhD | Ella Goldner (Levy) | Paul Kirby | Eleanor Ford | Kate Hyslop | Caitlin Scheybeler #Innovation #HealthTech #MedTech #Hardware #Investment #PreSeed
