Let’s break down the W.A.S.T.E. problem and how we can work together to solve it: W – Wasteful Practices Littering and reliance on single-use items contribute to pollution. It’s time to adopt mindful habits and reduce what we throw away. A – Absence of Infrastructure Without recycling bins, composting stations, or clear signs, waste management becomes tough for everyone. Better infrastructure leads to better outcomes. S – Single-Use Plastics Plastic bottles, wrappers, and utensils are common park pollutants. Reusable alternatives can make a huge difference. T – Trash Overflow Overfilled bins often lead to litter spreading, harming wildlife and ruining the park’s beauty. Consistent waste management is key. E – Environmental Impact Poor waste practices affect ecosystems, soil, and water quality. By addressing waste, we can protect parks as natural refuges. Our Solution? A #ZeroWasteUrbanParks Movement! We’re working to transform urban parks with initiatives like: 🌱 Adding recycling and composting stations or avoiding bins at all. 🌱 Hosting zero-waste events and cleanups. 🌱 Educating visitors on sustainable practices. 🌱 Reducing reliance on single-use plastics. What’s one step you can take to reduce waste in your favorite park? Share your ideas below! 💬🌍 #ZeroWasteParks #SustainableLiving #WasteManagement #GreenSpaces #CommunityAction #ZeroWasteUrbanParks #EPOS Provincie Antwerpen Fundacja Ekopotencjał Zero Waste Lab Asamblea de Cooperación por la Paz (ACPP) Instituto Superior de Agronomia Mooimakers Junta de Andalucía Parque del Alamillo

Does your park host events organized by external partners? Let’s ensure these events reflect your park's commitment to sustainability! One effective approach is creating contracts or guidelines with zero-waste measures for event organizers. Here’s how to get started: ✅ Define Obligations: Specify required zero-waste actions (e.g., reusable serveware, waste sorting). ✅ Suggestive Checklists: For organizers not yet ready to commit fully, provide a list of suggested measures like digital ticketing or local food suppliers. ✅ Lead by Example: Implement these measures in your own events to set the standard! ✅ Offer Incentives: Discounts on park rentals or extra promotion for zero-waste events can motivate organizers. 💡 Success Stories: 🔸 Vrijbroekpark used reusable cups during a cricket competition, reducing single-use waste. 🔸 At the Provincie Antwerpen Festival of the Roses 2023, all catering was required to use reusable packaging. With 2,000+ attendees, only 20 liters of unsorted garbage was produced! 🌹♻️ Why Zero-Waste Measures Matter: ✔️ Less garbage, less cleanup ✔️ Events represent your park’s values ✔️ Opportunity to test new eco-ideas 🔗 Our Handbook with best zero-waste practices from european parks is premiering soon, don't miss the date and follow us on IG and FB https://lnkd.in/dsSEJkUD! #ZeroWasteUrbanParks #EPOS Provincie Antwerpen Zero Waste Lab Asamblea de Cooperación por la Paz (ACPP) Fundacja Ekopotencjał Mooimakers Instituto Superior de Agronomia Parque Natural de los Toruños

Parks are not just green spaces – they’re the perfect venues for creativity, sustainability, and connection. Organizing upcycling workshops is an innovative way to craft promotional gadgets while inspiring eco-consciousness among visitors. Here’s how your park can make it happen: 🔸 Recycled Planters: Turn old cans or bottles into branded plant pots featuring the park’s name or logo. 🔸 DIY Keychains: Use scrap wood or other materials to create keychains that visitors can take home as souvenirs. 🔸 Fabric Pouches: Upcycle old textiles into small pouches for seeds, snacks, or other park-themed goodies. Why host these workshops? 1️⃣ Promote Your Park: Give visitors unique, sustainable keepsakes with your park’s branding. 2️⃣ Engage the Community: Bring people together to learn fun, eco-friendly skills. 3️⃣ Lead in Sustainability: Showcase your park’s commitment to the environment. It’s a win-win: meaningful experiences for participants and greater visibility for your park’s values! 🌿✨ 👉 Ready to explore this idea? Soon, our #ZeroWasteUrbanParks Handbook will be available! This Sunday, #ParquedelAlamillo launched the Christmas decoration workshops, where visitors crafted garlands using sticks collected from the park and upcycled banners from past events 🌿🎀. Each week, the workshop will focus on a new decoration made from natural and recycled materials found in the park. Last week’s project featured Christmas trees with pinecone bases 🍂🌲. Next up: garlands with elements from old event banners and leftover materials like yarn and cardboard. Participants can either take their creations home or hang them on our park’s Christmas tree, turning waste into festive joy while fostering community engagement and sustainability 🌍✨ Thank you Belén for providing the photos! #EcoFriendlyChristmas #DIYDecorations #UpcycledArt #SustainableHolidays #CommunityWorkshops #FamilyFun #ChristmasCrafts #ZeroWasteUrbanParks #EPOS Provincie Antwerpen Fundacja Ekopotencjał Zero Waste Lab Asamblea de Cooperación por la Paz (ACPP) Instituto Superior de Agronomia Mooimakers Junta de Andalucía Parque del Alamillo

🌿 Throwback to Our Zero Waste Urban Parks Visit in Wrocław! Exactly two weeks ago, we spent an inspiring day exploring Wrocław’s parks as part of the Zero Waste Urban Parks Project. 🚴♀️ We kicked off with a bike tour through Park Grabiszyński, Park Krzycki, and Park Południowy, which are the biggest parks in central Wrocław, discovering sustainable solutions like dry water ponds. Later, we joined Fundacja Ekopotencjał for creative landscape art workshops at Górka Skarbowców, followed by a #zerowaste coffee and fruit break courtesy of Food Think Tank. The afternoon was filled with insights from the Wrocław Greenery Management team, showcasing zero waste strategies in Park Krzycki and Park Południowy. Such a valuable experience connecting with nature and sustainability! 🌍✨ #ZeroWaste #SustainableParks #UrbanGreen #ZeroWasteUrbanParks #EPOS #ErasmusPlus Provincie Antwerpen Fundacja Ekopotencjał Asamblea de Cooperación por la Paz (ACPP) Zero Waste Lab Mooimakers Instituto Superior de Agronomia Parque del Alamillo Parque Natural de los Toruños

Let's start the training! 🌿 We had an incredible day dedicated to exploring sustainable urban practices and green space management here in Wrocław. The morning started with presentations on the city's sustainable strategies 🌍 and a review of its green spaces management system 🌳. A special highlight was the Zero Waste Lab session, where we dove into project results and engaged in an interactive role-playing game around waste reduction. After lunch, we visited the beautiful Japanese Urban Garden. A big thank you to all the contributors and participants for making this an enriching experience! Tomorrow, we go on with the next activities 💪 #Sustainability #UrbanDevelopment #GreenSpaces #ZeroWaste #EcoInnovation #ClimateAction #Wroclaw #CircularEconomy
