✨Year in Review: March 2024✨ DETR awarded Nevadaworks & Workforce Connections Grants to Address Barriers to Employment. DETR was one of 12 state workforce agencies awarded this Quality Jobs, Equity, Strategy, and Training Disaster Recovery National Dislocated Worker Grants from the US Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration. The two workforce boards were able to reach out to underserved individuals and dislocated workers, ensuring they are aware of grant-funded activities and have the opportunity to enroll in them. “DETR chose these priority populations due to the vast number of individuals in the state who could benefit from enhanced efforts to reduce barriers to their employment including transportation, awareness of available services, wraparound supports, and opportunities,” said Kristine Nelson, Employment Security Division administrator at DETR. “Barriers such as these increase the vulnerabilities these populations face.
