F.A. Wilhelm Construction was thrilled to mark the completion of the Three Rivers Protection and Overflow Reduction Tunnel yesterday with City of Fort Wayne and Fort Wayne Mayor Sharon Tucker! This transformative project is a major step forward in protecting Fort Wayne's rivers and environment. The tunnel, which spans five miles and is located 220' below the Earth's surface, serves as a critical water separation facility. It ensures wastewater is treated before being released into the rivers, keeping nearly 900 million gallons of combined sewage out of Fort Wayne’s waterways annually. Wilhelm worked with the City to complete work at both ends of the tunnel. Wilhelm Construction team proudly participated in the AGC Leadership Track Day of Service, rolling up their sleeves alongside fellow industry leaders to construct playhouses for Cooper House, O'Connor House, and the Early Learning Center of Indy. These playhouses will soon bring joy to children in our community, while funds raised from the event will directly benefit local charities. Additionally, leftover tools will be donated to a local trade school or nonprofit, empowering future builders. This week, we celebrated groundbreaking events with the State of Indiana and the City of Indianapolis for two transformative projects: a 13-acre expansion at White River State Park Expansion and the new Henry Street Bridge! The State Park expansion will bring even more green space and community amenities to enjoy right in the heart of Indianapolis. Additionally, the Henry Street Bridge will connect the east side of the White River to the former GM stamping plant site, giving drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists direct access to the park expansion.
