Wichita Professional Communicators (WPC) includes women and men in all segments of the communications field — the news media, public relations and strategic communications, advertising, marketing, graphic design, education and more. Formerly known as Wichita Press Women, the organization was established more than 50 years ago. It was then, and is today, affiliated with Kansas Professional Communicators (formerly Kansas Press Women) and the National Federation of Press Women, which recently celebrated 75 years in existence. WPC members enjoy special events, monthly programs, an annual mixer, professional development opportunities, job announcements and the opportunity to support a scholarship for local college students. The WPC scholarship fund, from which a $2,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a local college student, is supported through membership dues and WPC fundraising efforts each year.

New week, new deadline! You now have two more weeks to apply to the Ida B. Wells Society inaugural Investigative Reporting Fellowship! This no-cost, intensive program will allow professional journalists sharpen their investigative reporting skills under the guidance of some of the most accomplished reporters and editors in the industry. During training, participants will work on projects they have proposed for publication in their respective newsrooms. Freelance journalists also are invited to apply.
