About us
The Daugherty Water for Food Global Institute at the University of Nebraska was founded in 2010 by the Robert B. Daugherty Foundation to address the global challenge of achieving food security with less stress on water resources through improved water management in agricultural and food systems. We are committed to ensuring a water and food secure world while maintaining the use of water for other human and environmental needs. DWFI Research Program Manager Ankit Chandra and Will R. of Taproot Venture Partners recently shared insights in CSA News on voluntary carbon markets (VCMs). Their article covers: 📈 The evolving landscape of agricultural voluntary carbon markets 💡 How carbon credits are generated through climate-smart farming practices 🤝 The role of startups, agribusinesses, and other key players in carbon trading VCMs offer farmers an opportunity to earn income while adopting practices that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve soil health. But as this market develops, ensuring the quality and effectiveness of carbon credits is critical. 🌍 Clear protocols, standardized pricing, and transparent criteria are the keys to building a system that works for farmers, buyers, and the environment.
