Paul Vitrano, Head of International Business Development, breaks down five reasons why clubs should choose low-speed electric vehicles instead of golf carts for off-course operations in this month's Club + Resort Business. 🔹 Function—Versatile and custom with passenger and truck models with optional doors and heat for a fully enclosed cab. 🔹 Style—Unique and attractive design with a comfortable, spacious interior to elevate the guest experience. 🔹 Safety—Standard safety features promote a safer environment for guests and vehicles to coexist. 🔹 Sustainability—Reduced emissions, noise reduction and off-grid charging efficiencies support green initiatives. 🔹 Savings—Lower operating costs due to reduced maintenance and $0.03/mile of energy to operate. Aviation’s goal to achieve net zero by 2050 is ambitious, but going electric is attainable for most ground vehicles today. Gerry Hoadley, our GSE business leader, discusses why ground vehicles is a good place to start in Airport Business Aviation Pros. For not only traditional GSE vehicles, but also the gas-powered vans, trucks, sedans and golf carts that make up 50% of ground fleets today. Transitioning from full-size ICE to right-sized EVs helps airports eliminate emissions on the ground. With the added benefits of enhanced safety, cost savings, reduced maintenance, size, flexible charging and improved operational productivity—our fleet of Tiger, Taylor-Dunn and GEM electric vehicles will bring you one step closer to net zero today, without the wait. It’s an exciting point in time for the aviation world. We’re here to help airports and ground fleet operators accelerate electrification without compromise. Looking to move away from gas-powered golf carts to a more environmentally friendly option, Sandia National Laboratories began the transition to EVs in 2002 with the purchase of our LSVs. “As one of the nation’s largest national laboratories, Sandia is serious about reducing our environmental impact as much as possible,” said Nick Lovato with Fleet Services at Sandia National Laboratories. “Our fleet has more than 200 street-legal GEM vehicles including our originally purchased GEMs, more recent GEM e4s and solar-powered GEM e4s.” The premier national science and engineering lab has not only reduced their carbon emissions, but also significantly reduced overall fleet operating costs through maximized vehicle efficiency and reduced maintenance costs. They’ve also been recognized by the The White House for their efforts, having received a GreenGov Presidential Award – earning the “Green Innovation Award” for developing and implementing the photovoltaic (PV) powered carts.
