A federal district court has ruled the CTA is likely unconstitutional. What does that mean? The order prohibits the enforcement of the beneficial ownership information (BOI) reporting rule -- something we've talked a lot abut all year. Currently, FinCEN (the CTA enforcement agency) is reviewing the order. The AICPA has said: "Under the injunction, FinCEN is barred from enforcing BOI filing requirements." What now? We understand CPAs and their clients may have confusion about what to do. While reporting requirements are paused, we urge everyone to stay prepared until we have more information from FinCEN and the Treasury. 🚨 BOI News Alert! 🚨 Yesterday, the Eastern District of Texas suspended the implementation of the Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reporting requirements included in the Corporate Transparency Act. While we await news from the U.S. Treasury Department and Financial Crimes Enforcement Network on how those entities will proceed, the VSCPA, along with all state societies and the AICPA, has urged the government to push back the initial filing deadline by at least one year, to no earlier than Jan. 1, 2026.
