  • If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is worth a million. One of the biggest opportunities for firms in the AEC space is storytelling. More specifically – telling project stories. When the status quo is project photos, try standing out with different video types: 1) A Project Highlight video: a collection of nice shots showcasing design features 2) A Project Story video: a narrative of the project through the lens of a PM, project partner, or end user 3) A Brand Impact video: a collection of narratives showcasing the impact of your firm on your community Each of these can be used for proposals, in social media, and on the website.   • Over the past couple of years, we’ve produced dozens of videos for our clients, ranging from project stories and customer testimonials to social media clips and YouTube series. Along the way, we've learned a lot about what works (and what doesn’t): 1) Ditch the script – conversations flow better when people aren't tied to memorized lines. 2) Use an outline instead – structured but unscripted interviews feel more natural and authentic, making the story come to life. 3) Consistency is key – posting regularly keeps your audience engaged and helps build momentum (especially with social media and YouTube). 4) Tell stories – it's not just about features or data – great videos focus on people, problems, and real results. 5). Know your audience – tailoring your message and tone to who’s watching makes all the difference. 6). Keep it simple – focus on a clear message and let the visuals speak for themselves. 7) Hit record – check those cameras and mics and make sure they are recording; reshoots are costly!
