When disaster strikes, local community groups are often the first and last responders. That's why we're committed to partnering with these essential organisations who are focused on transferring power, resources, and ownership to local communities. As 2024 draws to a close, we're proud to report that 82% of our humanitarian and emergency funding has supported national, local, and community-led groups. An increase from 71% in 2023. Notabably, 37% of these organisations are led by women, highlighting the vital role of diverse leadership in driving change. Our partners have been on the frontlines, delivering crucial aid to those in need. Their work extends beyond immediate crisis response, as they focus on building a future where communities can meet their own needs and enhance their resilience in the face of growing challenges. #CommunityLeadership #SCLR #Resilience

🎄 Last Friday, our London Charity Committee hosted their annual Christmas Bonanza. Colleagues donned their most extravagant Christmas jumper, bringing festive joy to the office. Warm clothing was also collected for The Passage, a London homeless charity. The day was filled with a few friendly competitions, all to drive up some rivalry and raise money for local causes. At the Vitol Foundation, we're proud to have 23 global Charity Committees dedicated to making a difference. These teams are crucial in delivering and coordinating our charitable efforts across our Vitol offices worldwide. Each year, they thoughtfully allocate funds to support organisations that truly make a difference in their communities. 🌍 In 2024, we’ve supported over 215 organisations through our global Charity Committees. #GlobalCharityCommittees #LocalGiving

It's the holiday season in the USA, and we're delighted to share that our partner Muso has received the 2024 Kristof #HolidayImpactPrize, an initiative led by New York Times Columnist and two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, Nicholas Kristof. In many low and middle-income countries, millions face the devasting reality of dying while waiting for healthcare. Yet, many of the diseases that claim lives—like diarrhoea, pneumonia, malaria, and malnutrition—are treatable with timely diagnosis and intervention 🩺 🏥 Over the next five years, Muso will bring early access to quality healthcare to over 1 million people across Mali, Côte d'Ivoire, and Zambia. One of the ways they achieve this is through an incredible network of community health workers—primarily local women—who are trained, supervised, and equipped with diagnostic tools and medicines, all guided by a cutting-edge smartphone app. In communities where Muso operates, there's been a staggering 63% reduction in child mortality rates and a 54% increase in the likelihood of mothers giving birth in health facilities. https://lnkd.in/eXqeFFsS #HealthcareForAll #GlobalHealth #KristofHolidayImpactPrize

🚽 📱 Did you know that more people worldwide can access a mobile phone than a safe and secure toilet? It's startling that 3.5 billion people still live without safely managed sanitation. Sanitation is a human right. Everyone should have access to a toilet that is secure, hygienic, private, and connected to a safely managed sanitation system to properly dispose of waste. It protects people's dignity and is especially important in the lives of women and girls. Investing in sanitation and improving governance is not just important—it's critical. On #WorldToiletDay, we want to thank all our brilliant partners working on providing safe and secure sanitation. 🏃♂️ 💨 A few weeks ago, seven of our colleagues from Vitol, representing four global offices, laced up their running shoes and took on the iconic New York Marathon, to support our inspiring partner, Grassroot Soccer. Across Africa, adolescents face daunting health challenges. While childhood mortality has seen an 80% improvement over the past 50 years, adolescent mortality remains stubbornly high. Preventable diseases like HIV and complications from pregnancies continue to claim young lives. Grassroot Soccer is changing this narrative by harnessing the universal language of team sports to educate, support, and mentor young people. ⚽ Soccer, or football, is more than just a game—it's a cultural cornerstone. Grassroot Soccer uses this beloved sport to build trust, engage youth in dynamic learning, and create safe spaces for open conversations. Through soccer-based programs, young people gain the knowledge and confidence to tackle vital health topics and adopt lifelong healthy behaviours.

🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 We're thrilled to announce that two of our innovative partners have been recognised as The Audacious Project 2024 winners! Food For Education is transforming lives by providing nutritious, locally sourced school meals to children across Africa. Millions of children face classroom hunger every school day, but Food4Education is changing that. By 2030, they aim to feed 1 million children in Kenya and support other African governments to reach an additional 2 million children daily. This funding will enable them to scale their operations and expand their impact, ensuring more children can learn and thrive. 🍽️📚 INKOMOKO empowers entrepreneurs in displacement-affected communities by offering financing, training, and market connections. With over 122 million forcibly displaced persons worldwide, Inkomoko's work is crucial. They help rebuild and grow businesses, fostering strong economic environments that benefit everyone. This funding will allow them to reach more entrepreneurs, bridging divides and unlocking potential. 🌍💼 These projects, supported by The Audacious Project at TED, are changing the world with bold ideas and impactful solutions. We're proud to support their journey. https://lnkd.in/evWKsHe5 #Innovation #Education #Entrepreneurship #AudaciousProject

🌍 Vitol Goes the Distance: A Global Movement Challenge! September was an exciting month for everyone at Vitol as we embarked on "Vitol Goes the Distance," our global movement and exercise challenge. Through the GoJoe app our colleagues competed to virtually travel around the world, visiting every Vitol office. Our mission? To rack up as many points and kilometers as possible while fostering some healthy competition and raising money for charity. For every point collected, the Vitol Foundation is donating $2 to employee-nominated global charities. With over 19,272 activities logged, we saw a mini Olympics in Geneva, a fierce paddle competition in Bahrain, and a lightning-fast 5km in London! 🌟 In just one month, our colleagues covered an incredible 71,690 km, amassing 100,378 points—translating to a whopping $200,756 for charity! A special shoutout to our top three winning teams, who have earned additional donations for local organisations in: 🥇 Riga, Latvia 🥈 Bogotá, Colombia 🥉 Cape Town, South Africa Congratulations to our winners and everyone who participated! 🎉
