Virginia Tech MSBA: Hospitality and Tourism Management reposted this
Huge congratulations to Mr. Kurt Krause, who was recently recognized as HTM’s very first Emeritus Advisory Board Member during our Advisory Board dinner on October 24th. This new membership is reserved for departing board members whose service has expanded for at least ten years and who have offered significant contributions in terms of time, talent and treasure to HTM, and concluded their voluntary service on the board in good standing. This new membership was created to honor their service but also allow them to remain engaged with the department on their own terms. Kurt joined the HTM Advisory Board in 1994 serving as the chair for 8 years. This recognition highlights his many accomplishments to HTM, Pamplin and Virginia Tech over the span of several decades. First and foremost, he is a proud Hokie and Hokie Dad! Kurt started his career in various Marriott hotels before rising to become VP of Brand Strategy at Marriott International. He became Virginia Tech’s VP for Business Affairs overseeing construction projects including the Lane Stadium expansion, Inn at Virginia Tech, and Alumni Center along with the pre-planning for the Moss Arts Center. Kurt was instrumental in developing and opening landmark hotel properties in Virginia such as The Main and Marriott Oceanfront. He is currently the President and CEO of Visit Norfolk. What an extraordinary career and it continues. Thank you, Kurt! #hokiehospitality #virginiatech #onepamplin #hokies
