How do you define "translational science"?
Communications consultant, with 20 years of experience in medicine and healthcare. Seasoned with a dollop of on-the-ground community engagement and a dash of graphic design from my mapmaking days.
I’ve spent a lot of time the last couple of months asking researchers for their definition of translational science. NCATS has its own definition. https://lnkd.in/grBpzCCE However, I think it’s critical that every medical scientist is able to articulate this concept for themselves and contextualize it within their own work. There are lots of words and phrases used in common: 🌉Bridging the gap 🧱 Overcoming barriers 🎯 Focus on the process 🦠 Disease agnostic 👭Interdisciplinary teamwork ➕ Improve efficiency and effectiveness What’s fascinating, though, is to listen to how people describe this in their own words. What do they draw from their own experience and how does that enrich their understanding of this topic? What’s your definition? What’s top of mind for you when you think about translational science in action? #ctsaprogram
