U.S. Army Recruiting Command (USAREC) is an amazing team, and we are proud to be a very small part of the work that was done across the US Army to achieve this milestone! Our work has just begun. We’re excited to see what challenges we can tackle in FY25 and beyond. Stay tuned for new experiments and please message us your ideas! #ArmyInnovation #RethinkRecruiting
We're all incredibly proud of the team that has fought to meet our Regular Army Recruiting goals for this year. We still have a lot of work ahead to ensure we meet both sides of the mission (Regular Army and US Army Reserve), but the Recruiting NCOs and leadership in the field should take a minute to celebrate their success. As the article below points out, this was a total Army approach. The Soldier Referral Program, Future Soldier Prep Course, TAIR (Total Army Involvement in Recruiting) Assets, and Hometown Recruiting are all part of our long-term success. In addition, we worked with Army Futures Command and the Army Software Factory to develop a mobile application for recruiters that has served as a minimum viable product for our development of the Accessions Information Environment System (#AIE). As the world changes, we have to adapt, while still maintaining a focus on the Recruiting Fundamentals. We've conducted multiple experiments and pilots to determine what technologies or processes can help Recruiting NCOs. We've leveraged AI to triage leads and help recruiters sort through tens of millions of leads for those who may be more propensed. We're looking at the best way to organize a recruiting NCO and station's workload to ensure success. BG Kate Simonson and her team are looking to improve medical enlistment processes. While they may not all work out, we're learning from each experiment. Thank you to everyone who gave so much this year! https://lnkd.in/eEKhy8C3

We're testing out a unique idea this weekend, leveraging the Defense Entrepreneurs Forum and GigEagle to get some of the most creative minds in the defense innovation space together for a weekend micro-hackathon on a recruiting innovation concept with takeaways that we can implement and collect data on starting immediately. Want to roll up your sleeves and help us make change? Reach out to Jesse Levin and team below. #ArmyInnovation #ArmyRecruitingChallenge
Want to have an immediate impact on shaping the Army Recruitment and Retention Strategy? Join us in Washington, DC, this Saturday, the 27th, for a scrappy strategy design session with Col. Kris Saling, Acting Director/Chief of Staff, Innovation Directorate, US Army Recruiting Command. There is nothing wrong with swapping tales of national security woes over cigars and whiskey in one of Alexandria's haunts. But what truly blows our hair back are those rare opportunities to wrangle with the agents of change capable of executing and implementing change quickly. Should the topic of recruiting and retention make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on edge, you might think about joining Col. Sailing and members of the DEF community to begin to shape a strategy playbook to be immediately leveraged by USAREC. This will be a hasty informal affair and will not yield comprehensive results, but it will mark the start of DEF's efforts to assist the Command per their request. This is meant to be a very small group. Email us at [email protected] or message us here if interested, and if we can invite you, we will share details. Of particular interest are those with creative design and community organization/facilitation experience within the NatSec arena. Thanks to Zach Wade and the MRP Realty team for continuing to host and support the national security community. These guys always step up in a pinch. US Army Recruiting - Innovation Directorate reposted this
So, a recent panel I was on got a great question. "Given the difference in compensation and benefits, why would someone talented choose a job with the US Army?" This is a great question because it challenges the assumption that a lot of organizations make, that talent is only there for the money. Bad assumption. Talent is drawn to your organization by two things - quality of work and quality of life. Money contributes to quality of life, for sure, but you need both elements. So let's talk about what draws people to problem sets within the DoD. ☑ Tackling meaningful problems. We attract people to the Army because we have a unique mission and purpose, and allow people to tackle complex and impactful challenges. This sense of purpose and impact isn't something you can buy. ☑ The benefits ain't half bad. When you look beyond raw compensation, we offer a lot when you look at paid time off, healthcare, retirement, and stability, because we have those in spades. ☑ There are opportunities for growth. You might not see those at first glance, because we DO have people who join us in a civilian role and...stay there. And stay there. But they're becoming less of a norm. Often, people stay with a job about 3 years and move to other positions, which is easy to do once you're already in the federal service. Somewhat like our PCS cycle. ☑ There's a sense of fulfilment from service, and that alone creates a compelling argument. The sense of community, shared mission, and the knowledge that your work contributes to the greater good provides a huge draw to talent - and it's why a lot of folks stay. So, choosing an Army civilian career in technology is not about the job, but about being part of something bigger, a mission that encourages you to innovate, grow, and make a significant impact. Or at least that's what we're aiming to create with the US Army Recruiting - Innovation Directorate. We have 21 civilian roles currently pending classification that we hope to have out for applications in September 2024. These roles will be technical and tactical both, helping us design and execute experiments on behalf of Army talent acquisition, helping us innovate, helping us market, and helping us connect. If you're interested, follow the Innovation Directorate page - we'll be sharing INN-D information there and I'll be reposting here. If you love hard problems, expeditionary data collection and analysis, building new systems and processes, traveling to observe our recruiting stations and processes, talking to Soldiers, Recruiters, families, and the American public, and helping us build the biggest and most powerful bench we can build to fight and win our nation's wars, if any of the things I talked about that draw talented people to public service appeal to you...have we got some opportunities coming up! Stay tuned! #ArmyInnovation #ArmyRecruitingInnovation #INND #ThinkIndependently
