About us
Children are exposed to lead from a wide array of sources including our homes, our food, our drinking water, our environment, and even the products we buy. Yet, no national organization focuses on the cumulative impact of these exposures -- until now!

Beginning in January, baby food companies that do business in California must post the results of arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury testing of their products on their website. We have been following the California law (AB-899) since it's passage, and we look forward to seeing what results the new year brings. October held many successes for reducing lead exposures. EPA’s actions will lead to long-term benefits that ✅ Enable children to improve their lifetime earnings by avoiding the IQ losses attributed to lead that limit their potential. While these improvements may not be noticeable in individual children, they are huge when millions of children are impacted each year. ✅ Reduce premature deaths from heart disease by avoiding the damage from lead exposure accumulated over individual lifetimes. While the risk from lead to an individual may be small, it is a significant step in the nation’s efforts to reduce the No. 1 killer of Americans. ✅ Protect fetuses from lead exposure in the womb that can result in low birth weights, which puts them at risk of longer and more expensive hospital stays after birth. ✅ Avoid some childhood cases of ADHD that contribute to inattention, impulsiveness, and hyperactivity, which is especially disruptive in the learning environment.
