UMPG Executive Vice President Jennifer Knoepfle has been promoted to Head of US A&R. Additionally, she has brought Hollie Boston to the company as Director of U.S. A&R. In making the announcement, Jody Gerson said, “I am overjoyed to promote Jenn to this much-deserved position as Head of U.S A&R. We are delighted to welcome Jack Leonard to the UMPG family. Co-founder of big beat project Cheapcuts, writer and producer Jack got his break as James Lavelle’s right-hand man in UNKLE, writing and producing two studio albums (The Road I & ii) and collaborating with artists such as Queens Of The Stoneage, A$AP Rocky, Mick Jones (The Clash) and Mark Lanegan. “We’re so thrilled to sign Jack Leonard to UMPG! I’ve known and been a fan of Jack and his incredible work for years, so it feels particularly special to announce him as our first sync-focused signing. Natalia Lafourcade has become the first Music Ambassador for Peace, the initiative presented by the Permanent Secretariat of the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates at the 19th World Summit of Nobel Laureates for Peace. An initiative that aims to raise awareness and promote dialogue on issues of peace, human rights and civil coexistence through one of the most powerful and universal languages, that of music. The Music Ambassador for Peace marks the beginning of a unique collaboration between Permanent Secretariat of the Nobel Laureates for Peace, musicians and internationally renowned artists. The first artist to receive the role of Music Ambassador for Peace is the award-winning Mexican singer-songwriter Natalia Lafourcade. With her art deeply rooted in culture and tradition, Lafourcade has demonstrated how music can break down barriers, unite people and spread messages of hope, respect and solidarity. Her music is a true testimony of how creativity can become a tool for social change. As the first "Music Peace Ambassador for Peace", Lafourcade will be the spokesperson of I Commit to Peace, a campaign launched in Monterrey, Mexico with the aim of inspiring the next generation to commit to a more just and peaceful world. “Music is a universal language that knows no borders or limits. It is inclusive and gives us the space and time to illuminate a place with our existence. Music reflects our cultural diversity, promotes respect and visibility. It connects us with hope, inspiration, and our spirituality. Peace is our sacred right. We are one, and there is an inevitable bond among all humanity, a thread that connects us and fosters brotherhood and sisterhood, even when it is difficult for us to understand and accept this reality. Everything we do affects our surroundings in some way.” commented Natalia Lafourcade “I am proud to have Natalia Lafourcade as the first Music Ambassador for Peace. In the vision of the Permanent Secretariat of Nobel Laureates for Peace there is the goal of creating a multidisciplinary platform at the service of the path to peace and human evolution for the common good. A warm welcome to Natalia, I am sure that I Commit to Peace will be just the first of many projects we will do together and that we will both be enriched by this journey”, said the President of the Permanent Secretariat of the World Summit of Nobel Laureates for Peace.
