The Call Center at Foxwoods Resort Casino donated 24 packaged meal kits to our Food Center. It's a great way to run a food drive. The team has been running two similar drives every year. Thank you! Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation #UnitedistheWay #HealthyCommunity #fooddrive #mealkits

Community partners are already hard at work at increasing capacity in our region's childcare programs; affordability, availability, and the critical educator workforce. The Southeastern CT #Childcare Collective partners like Norwich Free Academy, CT OEC, and childcare providers recognized at today's event at NFA's Slater Museum have built a student #pathway to create new opportunities for High School Seniors to intern at local provider and gain credentials for their future #careers. Our President and CEO, Dina Sears-Graves, was one of several speakers to highlight the work of the new #partnership. #UnitedistheWay #FinancialSecurity

As part of Coordinated Outreach efforts to educate and provide resources to support our Community Health Workers, Jeff Smithson from Proponent of Play, did a workshop called Connections that focuses on enhancing interpersonal connections and workplace cohesion by emphasizing emotional intelligence, fostering a sense of #belonging, and promoting mindful energy exchanges. Participants build emotional #awareness, essential for navigating the clients they serve and team dynamics. These activities, paired with #mindfulness practices, help participants manage their responses, ensuring interactions are #constructive and #empathetic. This approach shapes a positive, #inclusive environment, enabling people to support each other authentically and contribute to a culture of #trust and mutual #respect. #UnitedistheWay #HealthyCommunity

The Southeastern CT Childcare Collective met on Friday to further conversation on reducing the 41% gap in the demand for childcare vs the current capacity. Every family has access to affordable, high-quality childcare, and United Way is proud to serve as the backbone organization for the Collective to address this critical need. #UnitedistheWay #FinancialSecurity #childcare

Light the World kicked off yesterday at Olde Mystick Village and United Way team members, Annie and Elke, took part in the festivities (and hats and cookies). The Giving Machines will be there now through December 17. It works like a vending machine where you can donate to a charity, one of which, is our Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center! Stop by and check 'em out. GIVING MACHINES INC Elke Bellet
