This Thanksgiving and Native American Heritage Day, we pause to reflect on what truly matters—and for us, that's you. As we celebrate Thanksgiving today, a time of gratitude and togetherness, we also look ahead to Native American Heritage Day tomorrow—a moment to honor the history, cultures, and resilience of Native American communities who have enriched our collective story. 🍂To our members, thank you for allowing us to be part of your health journey.  🍂To our providers and community partners, your dedication strengthens care across our community.  🍂To our staff, you bring heart and hope to every step of this journey.  🍂And to Douglas County, thank you for being our inspiration to keep growing and improving for every person and every family we serve. As we celebrate these two days, we are reminded of the power of gratitude, the strength of heritage, and the shared hope for a healthier, more connected future for everyone. 

Have you seen Fir Grove Park after dark lately? One field is glowing—and it’s just the beginning of what’s possible. Through our CHIP funding, Umpqua Health Alliance supported the "Turn on the Lights" Project in partnership with the Umpqua United Soccer Club (UUSC). This effort brought portable lights to the park, ensuring that—for the first time—youth sports can continue into the evening on one of the fields, even after the sun goes down. Why this matters: • Youth teams now have the opportunity to practice later into the evening, opening doors for participation and growth. • This project began with a youth advocate’s vision, and Umpqua Health Alliance funding helped make it a reality. While these portable lights brighten just one field for now, they represent a step forward for youth sports and shared spaces in Roseburg. Permanent lighting remains a goal for fully illuminating the park and surrounding areas, such as walking paths and playgrounds, but this project is already making an impact. This is what Umpqua Health Alliance's commitment to our community looks like: supporting projects that create access, promote health, and build connections—one bright idea at a time. 🔆   #TurnOnTheLights #UHAInTheCommunity #CHIPProjects

Rural health care is the backbone of our community, and we're grateful for the dedication, resilience, and compassion of everyone working to ensure access to care across Douglas County. This past Thursday, we had an amazing time coming together with community partners to focus on something so close to our hearts: improving social emotional health services for children ages birth to five.    The event at Umpqua Community College (UCC), led by Umpqua Health Alliance's Behavioral Health Team, was filled with energy, big ideas, and a shared determination to make life better for children and families in our community. It was incredible to see so many people passionate about making a difference.    We owe a huge thank you to Dr. Rachel Pokrandt, President of UCC, for not only hosting us on campus but for being there with us, engaging in conversation, and showing such unwavering support.    And to every single person who joined us—thank you for your time, your insights, and your dedication. We're excited about the progress we're making and the future we're building for our kids. Let's keep it going. 

Cold weather is here, and 𝐔𝐂𝐀𝐍 and 𝐒𝐭. 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐡'𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡 are stepping up to ensure no one in Roseburg faces the frigid nights without shelter. The 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐠 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 will open on the coldest evenings, providing not just a safe place to rest but also hot meals to those in need. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩: Volunteers are the backbone of this initiative, and UCAN is actively seeking compassionate individuals to assist with meals, check-ins, and creating a welcoming environment. Who’s This For? Our program is geared toward Primary Care Providers, Integrated Behavioral Health Providers, and Specialty Behavioral Health Providers. Whether you're already working with young children or looking to enhance your expertise with this age group, this is an opportunity to expand your skills and impact! The below links take you to the provider-specific dashboard that lists various training and resource options for this program! Exciting changes for American Indian and Alaska Native communities in Oregon. Oregon Health Plan (OHP) and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) will now cover traditional health care practices at Indian Health Service (IHS) facilities and Tribal organizations, thanks to a recent decision by the Biden-Harris Administration. This significant step will improve health access, promote cultural practices, and help reduce disparities with Tribal populations.
