During Manufacturing Month, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) has shared resources to get the next generation of workers excited about choosing a career path in manufacturing. In a new video from NIST MEP, MEP Centers and their manufacturing clients talk about the benefits and importance of diversity in the manufacturing workforce. Having a diverse workforce brings different attributes to the table. The more we can attract people from different paths into manufacturing, the more it enriches the culture. The manufacturing industry is a safe, high-tech environment with opportunities for everybody. Who you hire and retain should be based on whether they match your values, share your mission and vision, and are the best people you can hire for a job. If you have different points of view on a particular problem set, you’re going to be much more valuable in the delivery of that mission. No matter who you are, you can see yourself in manufacturing. There are roles for those that are creative, analytic, or process-oriented. Whatever you're interested in, there’s a spot for you inside of manufacturing. Watch this video to learn more about diversity in the manufacturing workforce. #SeeYourselfInMFG #ManufacturingMonth #workforce #diversity
