As the holiday season approaches, so do the cybercriminals looking to exploit the festive rush. Here are a few key cyber threats to be aware of this holiday season: Gift Card Scams - Classic and effective scam! Cybercriminals target people with fake gift card schemes. You might receive a message from someone claiming to be a family member, friend, or even your boss, urgently requesting gift card purchases. Please always verify with the sender before you take any action! Phishing Emails and Texts Expect a rise in phishing attempts disguised as holiday sales or "limited-time offers." These emails and texts may look legitimate but can lead to compromised personal information or malware downloads. Please be careful when clicking links or downloading attachments from unknown senders. Fake Charities Many will capitalize on the season of giving by creating fake charity websites or social media posts asking for donations. Before contributing, double-check the legitimacy of the organizations you choose. Online Shopping Frauds While holiday deals seem irresistible, fake websites or sellers may offer “too good to be true” discounts. Always research before purchasing and use secure, well-known platforms. Package Delivery Scam Alert Scammers often impersonate delivery companies like UPS or FedEx to trick you into sharing personal information or paying fake fees. You'll receive a message claiming an issue with your package and be prompted to click a link or download an attachment. These links often lead to phishing websites or malware, compromising your data. Always verify delivery details directly with the company through their official website or customer service. Stay cautious, and don't share sensitive info from unsolicited messages. #CyberSecurity #HolidayScams #GiftCardScam #Phishing #StaySafe #CyberAwareness #DigitalSecurity

Business Email Compromise (BEC) is a more prevalent risk than ransomware. While ransomware attacks often make headlines due to their disruptive nature, BEC attacks are quietly siphoning billions of dollars from companies worldwide. BEC attacks exploit human vulnerabilities, leveraging social engineering to deceive employees into transferring funds or divulging sensitive information. Unlike ransomware, which relies on malicious software to encrypt data, BEC attacks are more insidious and complex to detect, as they often involve seemingly legitimate email communications. Our newest blog entry explores why BEC is an escalating threat and offers practical steps to protect your business. #BEC #EmailSecurity #CyberThreat #DataSecurity
