A Holistic Fire Management Ecosystem for Prevention, Detection and Restoration of Environmental Disasters.
About us
TREEADS is a #EUGreenDeal #H2020 project consisting of 47 partners from fourteen European countries and Taiwan. Motivated by the need for a more effective, science-based wildfire management and risk-informed decision-making, the TREEADS consortium will deliver a unifying ecosystem for integrated fire management and sustainable forest management. The project will build upon state-of-the-art high TRL products and unite them in a holistic Fire Management platform that optimizes and reuse the available Socio-technological Resources in all three main phases of Wildfires. By setting a multi-stakeholder, multi-actor approach at its core, the TREEADS solution will contribute to sustainable development as an inclusive societal process and secure sustainability and resilience of human societies as well as the natural environment. TREEADS solutions will be demonstrated and validated under actual operating conditions. The demonstrations will involve eight complex pilot implementations executed in seven EU countries (Romania, Spain, Italy, Greece, Norway, Austria, Germany) and Taiwan. The TREEADS project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement No. 101036926.

🌍🌱 Innovating Forest Restoration after Wildfires! On December 13, 2024, the Lithuanian Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry presented the Seedball and Seed Container Capsule (SCC) technologies during the scientific seminar "Managing Ecosystems for a Sustainable Tomorrow" at LAMMC. These cutting-edge solutions aim to address rapid reforestation challenges in areas affected by wildfires or with limited accessibility (e.g., mountain slopes). During the seminar, TREEADS partners discussed their potential applicability and shared greenhouse test results showcasing their effectiveness. These innovations have already been implemented in pilots across Spain, Austria, and Norway. 🚀 These technologies are a testament to how innovation can drive sustainable ecological recovery, bringing us one step closer to a greener, more resilient future. 📄 Learn more about the seminar here: https://lnkd.in/dFA3YNDi #TREEADS #Reforestation #WildfireRecovery #Sustainability #SeedballTechnology #Horizon2020 #UAV

🌍 TREEADS at the 8th Mediterranean Forest Week 🌿 The Universitat de Girona (UdG) proudly represented the TREEADS project at the 8th Mediterranean Forest Week, held in Barcelona from November 4–8, 2024. This gathering of experts, policymakers, and environmentalists from across the Mediterranean focused on forest restoration and resilience building, exploring these themes from scientific, policy, and operational perspectives. UdG showcased the TREEADS Post-fire Spatial Decision Support System (PF-SDSS) through two insightful poster presentations: 1. Post-fire restoration: application of a spatial decision support system to a large burned area 2. TREEADS PF-SDSS: a web-based spatial decision support system for post-fire management The presentations sparked engaging discussions, with participants expressing strong interest in adapting the PF-SDSS for their regions. This enthusiasm highlights the innovative potential of TREEADS in revolutionizing post-fire restoration and management planning. We are inspired by the positive feedback and the opportunity to connect with the Mediterranean forestry community! 🌐 Learn more about our participation: https://lnkd.in/dU_t6mnp #TREEADS #ForestRestoration #MediterraneanForestWeek #Innovation #PostFireManagement #Sustainability
