They review the seven DevOps practices and Tom’s proposed adaptations of DevOps under the banner of GitNops. This is the first part of a two-part show with Tom, and of these episodes are the first installment in a series of TNOps conversations on how DevOps may (and may not) be easily consumed by traditional NetOps organizations. Laura Santamaria has started a great series called Technically Leadership that focuses on leadership issues for different types of tech organizations. I had a really enjoyable conversation with Laura recently about some of my tech leadership experiences - see the pod link below. She pointed out that I apparently have my own slogans, such as "No one care about your career like YOU do" 🤓 As we discussed skills development, I was reminded of several people and groups in my life that have really helped me and others with tech and leadership development. I know I'll miss tons of people here, but here's a shout out to ones that have had - and are having - a real impact. For building programs and structure to proactively facilitate SE development, and for running interference and fighting for budget for it (thank you all!): Scott Stevens, Joseph Green, Jeremy Behrle, Lisa Guess, MBA, BSEE, Lynn Gates, Mark Hinckley, .Tom Ruban, Anthony Cioffi - it's a privilege to know and work with each one of you over the years. For facilitating local groups to exchange ideas about what's happening in networking (and more) and giving opportunities for people to network and develop (new and not-so-new), no one does a better job in #networkengineering than US Networking User Association with Jason Gintert, Jason Valore, Chris Kane, Kate Valore, Kayla Anthony (Kane), and many many local leaders (wayyyyy too many to list, but you know who you are) who work to keep the NUGs moving. And selfishly, I'm proud of what Chris Grundemann and I have been able to do via the Network Automation Forum. It's not just us, or even primarily us; it's a real honor and privilege to be a conduit and provide a space to help so many people connect and share info on what's happening in #networkautomation - come check it out for yourself in November 2024: https://lnkd.in/enQTqQgy Who stands out to you? What are your go-to resources, organizations, or people for development issues? We'd love your thoughts and comments below.
IT work requires ongoing training and skills development. Laura Santamaria and guest Scott Robohn discuss strategies for leveling up your team to ensure they have the skills they need. Laura and Scott talk about the need for continuous learning and explore options for encouraging skill development, even in budget-constrained environments. Good leaders should guide by example and support team members' growth. Listen here or wherever you get your podcasts - https://lnkd.in/gCRXPYBi
