About us
Thrive DC, an independent, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, works to prevent and end homelessness by providing vulnerable individuals with a comprehensive range of services to help stabilize their lives. Thrive DC serves approximately 2,000 homeless and vulnerable individuals in the Washington Metro area annually. We welcome anyone in need providing services to men and women of all ages, backgrounds, races and ethnicity. The individuals who come through our doors often face complex barriers to a more stable life. They are hungry and sick, frustrated and confused, and lonely and hopeless. Many are diagnosed with mental illness, and some struggle with substance abuse. Others have been victims of domestic violence or sexual assault. A majority live with chronic health problems – often without regular access to crucial care. For these individuals, Thrive DC provides a low barrier, vitally needed safety net. Thrive DC is often their last hope in the face of food insecurity, extreme poverty and homelessness and the first step towards independence and self-sufficiency.

Today, we celebrated volunteers who have gone above and beyond in giving to our community over the past year, and in fact decades. Their commitment to making Thrive DC a place where our clients have access to the support and hope they need inspires us all. Thank you for standing with us, lending your time, and embodying the spirit of service. At Thrive DC, our volunteers aren’t just a part of our organization – they’re the backbone of the work we do every day. Their dedication, compassion, and selflessness make a profound difference in the lives of those we serve, from providing warm meals to ensuring staff have the time to engage clients one on one. A special thank you to Tatte Bakery & Cafe one of our corporate volunteer groups, for providing the food to make this celebration that much more special for our volunteer community. Together, we can create a stronger, more compassionate city. Here’s to our volunteers – for showing up, lifting up, and being the change! #ThriveDC #VolunteerAppreciation #CommunityImpact #GivingBack #Tatte

Today, on #WorldMentalHealthDay, we at Thrive DC are reminded of the critical role mental health plays in the lives of our clients. Many individuals experiencing homelessness, addiction, and other hardships also face mental health challenges. These struggles are interconnected, and they make the path to stability even more complex. On this important day, we encourage you to join us in raising awareness and advocating for mental health support. #MentalHealthMatters #ThriveDC #CommunitySupport #HomelessnessAwareness #EndTheStigma #MentalHealth
