For the People Who Serve. Strengthening the well-being of the people serving in America’s military and their families.

About us

The USO is for the people who serve. Strengthening the well-being of the people serving in America’s military and their families. Since 1941, the USO has strengthened America's military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country, throughout their service to the nation. From the moment they join, through their assignments and deployments, and as they transition back to their communities, the USO is always by their side. We are the Force Behind the Forces. We currently operate more than 250 USO centers at or near military installations, including in combat zones, MEPS centers, several airports, and even un-staffed USO service sites in places too dangerous for anyone but combat troops to occupy. We serve the American Armed Forces - specifically, U.S. Active, Reserve, and Guard service members and their families through a wide arrange of programs and entertainment. The USO is a congressionally chartered, private organization that relies on the generosity of individuals, organizations and corporations to support its activities, and is powered by a family of over 30,000 volunteers to accomplish our mission. The USO is not part of the federal government.

That’s a wrap on the USO NFL #SaluteToService Showdown. They brought the energy, passion, and skill. From Active-duty to Reserve and National Guard, these finalists represent the heart and strength of our military branches. They’ve showcased incredible talent, united by the USO Gaming Program and the spirit of connection, competition, and camaraderie. Congratulations to Dylan Walker and Kristopher Houchins, both of the United States Navy, who are each taking home two tickets and an all-expense-paid trip to Super Bowl LIX!! Through the #USOGaming Program, we’re building more than gaming spaces — we’re creating connections and community for our service members around the globe. Join us at uso.org/gaming

The excitement was sizzling at San Francisco Fleet Week with the launch of the inaugural Chow Line Challenge! Chef Tyler Florence joined by his son Hayden Florence and celebrated pitmaster Chef Matt Horn presided over a high-stakes culinary competition aboard the USS Tripoli. Five teams, representing the galleys of the USS Tripoli, USS Somerset, RCN Regina, and USCGC Bertholf, faced off in a 60-minute mystery box challenge. With a "Taste of San Francisco" theme, the contestants had one hour to prepare, assemble, and plate nine tacos for three judges. The teams brought their A-game, but only one could claim the coveted title. Watch as the action unfolds, from the fast-paced cooking to the mouthwatering final dishes, and see which team sailed away with the win!

The USO Partnership Summit is a one-of-a-kind gathering that brings together leaders across industries to explore the transformative power of collaboration. This year’s summit was an opportunity to hear directly from USO senior leaders about their strategic vision and to connect with partners to explore exciting new opportunities for growth in the months and years ahead. Jenn Panattoni, Head of Gaming Social Impact at Xbox, captured the essence of the summit perfectly: “The USO Partner Summit was a great opportunity to share best practices and learn from other corporate partners interested in starting or growing their partnership with the USO. I always look forward to hearing from USO leadership and learning more about their upcoming plans, so that we can continue to align our support and work together." We’re proud to stand alongside industry leaders to make a difference for military service members and their families. That's the power of partnership. #USOPartnerSummit
