The holidays are a time for festive gatherings with family and friends. They’re an opportunity to reconnect with loved ones, share stories, and create new memories. For many of us, this includes spending time with aging parents, grandparents, and other relatives. While these visits are often filled with joy, they can also bring a heightened awareness of the challenges our loved ones may be facing as they grow older. As you gather with family this holiday season, take a moment to truly observe and connect with your aging loved ones. Beyond the warm hugs and shared meals, you may want to pay attention to subtle cues that might indicate a need for support or assistance. Join us in making a difference by helping us Give Hunger a Holiday. In Michigan, 1 in 7 older adults struggles with food insecurity. During the holidays, your generous donations enable The Senior Alliance to continue to meet the needs of food-insecure aging adults and adults with disabilities in our community when traditional meal-delivery services are unavailable. Because of you, in FY 2024 (October 1, 2023, through September 30, 2024), on Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, over 3,400 hot meals were served. This year, we hope to serve even more vulnerable members in our area. Your donation, whether $5 or $500, will help provide meals and also support other services for the aging adults in our community – through this holiday season and beyond. Donate today at givehungeraholiday.org. Image description: A multi-image panel shows older adults in their daily lives and with their loved ones. In the middle, a panel read, “Give Hunger a Holiday.
