A three-dimensional model is a critical tool for understanding the intricacies of interior exhibit design and construction. This physical representation offers a tangible, bird’s-eye view of the spatial layout, allowing design teams to visualize how visitors will interact with the museum's spaces. It enables precise planning for exhibit placements, visitor flow, and the integration of technology and storytelling elements. For The Hip Hop Museum, the use of this model reflects the design team's commitment to creating a world-class museum experience. The model highlights the challenges of balancing aesthetics, functionality, and storytelling within the constraints of the physical space. By rising to the occasion, the museum's design team has successfully translated abstract ideas into a cohesive vision that honors Hip Hop's rich legacy while embracing cutting-edge design principles. As interior construction begins in 2025, this model serves as a foundation for collaboration between architects, curators, and construction teams. It ensures that every detail—down to the placement of exhibits and visitor accessibility—is carefully planned to deliver an immersive and impactful experience. The Hip Hop Museum is poised to set a new standard for cultural institutions, showcasing its story in an innovative and dynamic way.

Co-Founder & CEO at Collab + Co- Executive Director of Welder Underground, a Collab-Orators nonprofit initiative
The Odyssey of Rappin' Max Robot continues... Built by our non-profit apprenticeship program, Welder Underground, Rappin’ Max Robot stands 18 feet tall and weighs over 7,000 pounds. Originally created in 1986 by Eric Orr as the first Hip Hop Comic Book character, Max was brought to life as a steel sculpture by our first cohort at our Bushwick Fabrication Studio. He started his journey at The Hip Hop Museum and is now standing tall at Columbus Park in Brooklyn, where he will be until the Spring. He will then make his way to Paris to be gifted and remain in perpetuity as a commemoration of the 2024 Olympics where Breaking was featured as a sport. A huge thank you to the Office of the Brooklyn Borough President, Antonio Reynoso and his team, NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, DOT, NYPD, NYC Citywide Administrative Services, and all the visitors who came out to welcome Rappin’ Max Robot to Brooklyn. Our non-profit The Collab-Orators launched Welder Underground this past spring as a new program to teach welding and metal fabrication through the process of building public art. We’re grateful to ESAB for their generous support. If you would like to learn more about Welder Underground, please reach out. #WelderUnderground #RappinMaxRobot #metalfabrication #workforcedevelopment #apprenticeship #brooklynworkforce
