For the 17th year in a row, the Anaheim Ducks have provided a shopping spree at Target for some of our students during the holiday season! We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Anaheim Ducks, the Anaheim Ducks Foundation, and the Samueli Foundation. Our students cherish the memories made with the Anaheim Ducks players and are so appreciative of the time spent together. This month, we welcome Kim Nguyen, one of the newest members of The Wooden Floor Board of Directors. Kim works with U.S. Bank Private Wealth Management, working with clients to create tailored wealth management strategies. She creates wealth plans that include the right mix of investment management, trust and estate services, and private banking to meet their unique needs and preferences. Kim has worked in the banking and financial services industry since 2013, directing teams of specialists — often working closely with other client advisors, such as attorneys and accountants — to provide services that help her clients work toward their goals. "I am committed to supporting the students at The Wooden Floor. Through proper support and guidance, students can be empowered to reach their full potential and become the best versions of themselves. Let's invest in the next generation, encourage creativity, promote self-discovery, and provide access to quality education affording them the opportunity to accomplish their dreams and make a difference in the world." said Kim. Our students are making the most of their week off school this week, to apply to colleges and universities with the guidance of our College and Career Readiness Coordinator, Diana. These application workshops give our students valuable insights into the college application process. Meet Karen. “I used to be shy, but I got more confident after performing. I began to meet new people and talk a little bit more in my classes at school. The Next Step© program gave me tips on how to become a better student at school, like time management, how to be organized, and how to study. The Wooden Floor has helped me to be happier, helped me to be healthier, and encouraged to me to do good in school.” -Karen, Class of 2030 Karen joined The Wooden Floor during the pandemic in 2021. While many children continue to struggle from the after-effects of social isolation and virtual learning, Karen has thrived due to the support she received at The Wooden Floor. She has an impressive 4.8 GPA and was moved up two dance levels this fall. She dreams of studying dance at the university level, being inspired by role models she has had at The Wooden Floor.
