Excited to share VU Venture Partners investment in OpenAI, a category leader in providing research and development for artificial intelligence and a core infrastructure platform for the AI industry. This investment marks VUVP's 100th investment! Also, this was our first co-investment with Futurum Capital, our investment partner in Brazil, who is partnering with us to launch VU Brazil, bringing Venture University's Investor Accelerator Program to Brazil! VU Brazil is Headquartered in São Paulo, Brazil at Futurum's office. The video attached is a presentation of the digital twin of J. Skyler Fernandes, CEO of Venture University and General Partner of VU Venture Partners, created by Touchcast, a generative AI content and web infrastructure platform, and a VUVP portfolio company. Microsoft and OpenAI are being built on top of Touchcast's generative AI infrastructure to reduce cost by up to 50% and increase speed by up to 100x for the Generative AI Web. Note: While the Digital Twin is not perfect (designed imperfect somewhat intentionally), it will only get better from here, and be harder to distinguish a digital twin from the "real" person. On the topic of ethical AI, we may want it to be clear that a digital twin is presenting and not the actual person presenting. Food for thought! In Europe, the total VC funding over the past 10 years is 10 times higher than that of the previous decade, having grown from $43B to $426B. To put this in perspective, Venture Capital in Europe in 2024 is on track to see $45B capital invested, so in one year it will exceed the amount invested in a whole previous decade. By comparison, the US grew almost 5 times over the same period, from $249B to $1.2T.
