Executive Coach Joe Sinnott, Witting Partners LLC, and the host of The Energy Detox Podcast joins Jason Spiess to breakdown the executive decisions involved with benching Kirk Cousins and how they have handled the situation. The two also discuss how organizations and management handles alternative information in decision making processes, like the New York Jets owner relying on Madden scores in NFL scouting. Culture changes are discussed using the Southern Methodist University Penn State University Playoff Game as the backdrop. Both universities had to change their culture in order to see future success. https://lnkd.in/g8jRKcUR

Dr. Loren Scott joined Jason Spiess to discuss the EPA’s decision to award Louisiana the power to approve carbon capture projects. Louisiana is the third state—after North Dakota and Wyoming—given primary authority by EPA to issue permits for the Class VI wells used in carbon capture and sequestration (CCS). North Dakota approved its fourth well permit last spring, and an ethanol producer is already capturing and storing carbon there. Texas, West Virginia, and Arizona all have similar requests into EPA. The federal agency took 4 years to approve Louisiana’s bid for primacy. Proponents say giving more states primary authority to issue permits will accelerate approval of new projects essential to reduce CO2. The Inflation Reduction Act of 2023 fueled additional interest. Companies can receive a tax credit up to $85/ton to capture and permanently store carbon about a mile below the earth’s surface. https://lnkd.in/g4Rtis7R

Jodi Johnson, CEO, Red Trail Energy, joins The Crude Life to discuss their pioneering project involving carbon capture and storage. Red Trail Energy, LLC (RTE), an ethanol producer near Richardton, North Dakota, is currently operating a CO2 capture facility adjacent to the RTE ethanol facility, to ultimately inject about 180,000 tonnes CO2 annually more than a mile below RTE property for permanent storage. The first carbon capture and storage project allowed under state primacy in the U.S. has commenced operations. Red Trail Energy LLC announces it officially began carbon capture and storage (CCS) at its ethanol facility located near Richardton, North Dakota, on June 16. https://lnkd.in/gzifXcKu

Stuart Turley, CEO, Podcast Host, Elimination of Energy Poverty, joins The Crude Life to discuss some recent energy issues and activities. After some friendly banter, the interview dives into the evolution of politics being injected into energy. “I want to eliminate energy poverty,” Turley said. “The only way that you can eliminate energy poverty is to have low cost, abundant energy that has the least amount of impact on the environment and sustainable through not printing money. And by not printing money, it means it can be fiscally sustainable. I’m all in on all forms of energy, oil, gas, nuclear, wind, solar. It does not matter to me. Let’s take care of humanity first.” The interview also cites examples of people and companies who are becoming leaders in energy (and humanity) rather than specifically oil and gas. Chris Wright, CEO, Liberty Energy is one of the ones cited. https://lnkd.in/gwanMVbS
