  • It was an emotional and joyous occasion at today's official ribbon cutting for The Damage Zone! ✨ Owner Zienethe Holifield was joined by family members and loved ones, as well as representatives from the City of Detroit and Motor City Match. Holifield, who has more than 20 years of experience in the mental health, corrections, and child welfare system, wants her rage room and axe-throwing center to be a safe space for children and adults alike to release stress and regulate their emotions. ❤️ During the ribbon cutting, Christina Devlin, retail strategist at TechTown, shared a few words about Holifield's experience in our Retail Boot Camp program and coaching Holifield as she worked towards opening her brick-and-mortar. 🙌 And Holifield was presented with the Spirit of Detroit Award by Council Member Angela Whitfield Calloway. 📍 Visit The Damage Zone at 15785 James Couzens Fwy, Detroit, MI 48235!

  • In a recent op-ed for Crain's Detroit Business, TechTown Detroit was mentioned as a key player in supporting entrepreneurs. 🙌 Author Doug Graham reflects on his family's own experiences during The Great Migration to Detroit and how that period can provide lessons for rebuilding Detroit's middle class in the present day. He also shares ways Detroit's entrepreneurial ecosystem can be supported. 🤝 "The entrepreneurial spirit that built this city hasn’t disappeared; it simply needs to be reignited," Graham writes. "Small business incubators and accelerators, such as TechTown Detroit and Invest Detroit, are already helping local entrepreneurs start new businesses."
