Our next employee spotlight features Hind Ahmed. Ahmed is a student development assistant at TCC Northeast. Hind’s nominator praised her kindness and openness, even inspiring colleagues to go above and beyond themselves. She has been a huge support to the ESL program helping Arabic-speaking students. We spoke with Hind about her commitment to students and colleagues. What drives you to go above and beyond for students and colleagues? Several key factors drive my commitment for going above and beyond for our students: • Passion for service: I am deeply motivated by the desire to support students, both academically and personally, as I believe this directly contributes to their success. • Cultural competence: As a bilingual and multicultural individual, I am uniquely positioned to connect with students from diverse backgrounds, fostering a more inclusive and understanding environment. • Relationship building, I focus on making each student feel valued and recognized. By offering sincere and honest guidance, I create a secure and supportive atmosphere that encourages learning and growth. • Student empowerment: I believe in each student’s potential and actively work to inspire resilience, regardless of the challenges they may face. • Commitment to responsibility: I take great care to ensure that every student’s concerns are addressed. A positive impact helps students feel a sense of belonging at TCC, which ultimately leads to their satisfaction and success. • Collaborative teamwork: As colleagues, we are united in our mission of student success, regardless of the campus we serve. Through collaboration and shared responsibility, we contribute to a positive college environment, which is essential for both student achievement and the growth of TCC. How long have you been working at TCC I worked as a part-time student worker at TCC- Math Lab as Tutor for three and a half years. Currently, I am approaching my third year as a full-time Student Development Assistant, where I continue to support student success through my role. What do you like to do in your free time? Volunteer and Community outreach. Reading & Cooking. How do you feel you contribute to student success? I contribute to student success in several keyways: • Guidance and support: I serve as a channel to direct students to the right resources, helping them navigate academic requirements, campus services, and opportunities for growth. By providing clear, effective guidance, I help remove barriers, ensuring students stay on track and make informed decisions about their education and future. • Promoting accessibility: I play an essential role in making higher education more accessible by directing students to the appropriate departments and connecting them with support services. By doing so, I ensure they have access to the resources they need to succeed, creating an environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive.
