About us
Tamil JUG will be a unique Java User Group with a special focus on bringing Java to students and fresh engineering professionals. Drawing from our experiences with various JUGs, our working model will prioritize students: Conduct Meetups on College Campuses: Typically, JUG meetups happen in major cities, making them inaccessible to students due to location and financial constraints. If students cannot reach JUG, JUG will reach students. We will conduct JUG meetups directly at their college campuses. Build Leaders: Each college will have the opportunity to nominate one male and one female student as Chapter Leads. These leaders will be instrumental in organizing and managing meetups on their campuses, fostering a community of Java enthusiasts. Enable Teachers: Teachers play a crucial role compared to Java experts as they can easily connect with students. We will run special programs to enable teachers to effectively teach Java. Promote Java-Based Open Source Projects: We will promote Java-based open source projects among students and teachers, providing them with real-world experiences.

🚀 Highlights from Tamil JUG's 5th Meetup in Chennai! 🚀 We had an incredible experience at the 5th Tamil JUG meetup, held at Rajam Hall, Anna University #MIT campus, Chrompet, #Chennai. This time, we collaborated with #GoogleForDevelopers to organize a hands-on workshop on Artificial Intelligence, and the event was nothing short of amazing! The meetup kicked off with a warm inauguration by the Dean of Anna University, followed by Sathish Kumar Thiyagarajan shared the details of JAVAFEST which is going to happen 23rd November in Bangalore. The day was packed with insightful sessions that both #professionals and #students thoroughly enjoyed. 🌟 Session Highlights: The first session was a hands-on workshop on Gemini, led by Dharmesh Vaya, Google Developer Expert. Dharmesh provided a deep dive into Gemini's features, and the interactive format allowed participants to engage directly with the technology. The lab activities were both educational and practical, giving attendees a real confidence boost in working with cutting-edge AI tools. The session sparked plenty of questions, making it a truly engaging experience. Next we had Raghavan alias Saravanan Muthu, Big Data Engineer®, CSM®, CSPO®, CAL® who shared the details of different initiatives of Tamil JUG. The second session, led by Rajadurai Krishnamoorthy, explored the world of Machine Learning (ML) and its integration with Java. Starting from the fundamentals of #ML, Rajadurai went into detailed insights on #JSR 381 and its role in empowering Java developers to implement ML effectively. The session offered a comprehensive understanding of ML tools in Java and was highly appreciated by the attendees. 🤝 Networking & Industry-Academia Collaboration: The event concluded with a networking lunch, where professionals and students exchanged ideas, experiences, and opportunities. This provided a fantastic opportunity to bridge the gap between academics and industry, a core mission of Tamil JUG. Overall, the workshop was a massive success, and we’re excited about the future of AI and ML in Tamil Nadu. A big thanks to Prasad Seth from Google For Developers for arranging the workshop and sponsoring the food and beverages. Special thanks to Dr Kannan A for providing us the space for the meetup.
