Sylvan in the spotlight Opening International Demonstration Centre (IDC) Last Friday September 20th we celebrated the festive opening of the Sylvan Research International Demonstration Centre (IDC) in Horst, the Netherlands. More than 150 regional clients and growers attended the event. The IDC facility is a purpose-built fully equipped trial farm which will focus on final stage growing trials for new strains and encourage early stage collaboration with growers. This facility is an integral part of our growth strategy in edible mushrooms and is an excellent example of our dedication to science and service, that will allow our clients to create exceptional value. A special thanks goes to our colleagues in the Netherlands who supported the event; José for all the hard work in coordinating the event. Rochelle as our photographer who also took the pictures here attached. Sjaak and Math for hosting the guests for the tour of the spawn plant. And of course to our brilliant CropCare / IDC team Agnieszka, Harry, Dinand and Bart for making sure we could demonstrate beautiful crops of new white agaricus strains, Tuscan 820, Bavarian and various Oysters and Shiitakes to our clients. 🌱 This month, the first milestone of our [C]metric has taken place project in France at the Somycel plant ! 🌱 This project will be part of a wider Sylvan ESG strategy. Step one consists of measuring the Carbon footprint (referring to Greenhouse Gas emission) of our activities. We are convinced this indicator will help us to better understand the impact of our organization on climate change and identify key areas for improvement to structure a solid environmental strategy to reduce our emissions and contribute to global sustainability effort. ♻ A multidisciplinary team attended to the kick off meeting which officially launched the process to measure the C footprint of our biggest plant. The team will be supported by the expertise of O2m.
